Hello friends and members of Olio di Balena community!
Today is Thursday, March 28, and like every Thursday I have a nice and recurring posting task here on Hive: The Olio di Balena-Inleo Weekend Threading Contest.
The Olio di Balena - Inleo weekend threading contest is the result of a collaboration between the Olio di Balena and InLeo communities and has a double objective:
- create a moment of interaction and sharing among the users of Olio di Balena
- raise knowledge of a useful tool created by Inleo for Hive communities: the Community Threads
Participating in the Olio di Balena - InLeo Weekend Threading Contest is very simple and in this post you will find everything you need to quickly understand how to participate:
- indication of the new contest theme
- the rules to follow
- a step-by-step guide to creating a Community Thread
- the threads of the participants in the previous contest
New Weekend Contest Theme
The theme/task of the new contest is:
Photograph an object you particularly care about and explain why you chose it!
Important Note: smartphones, tablets, notebooks and desktop PC are excluded.
Important Notes:
- Your thread must also contain 1 photo or 1 image or 1 screenshot
- Enter a photo/image pertaining to the topic of the contest.
The photo/image must be your own, it can be a photo/image you have in your photo archive but you cannot use a photo taken from the web even if it is copyright free and you cannot use AI generated photos. - Threads containing only a photo or only text will not be considered.
Contest Deadline
Start: March 28, 2024
End: Monday, April 1, 2024 - 11:59 p.m. UTC-1
Contest Rules
Rule 1:
You must create a Thread within the Olio di Balena community (= a thread with tag #oliodibalena).
Rule 2:
Write a community thread in which you: Insert a photo of an item you particularly care about and explain why you chose it. Rebember: smartphones, tablets, notebooks and desktop PC are excluded.
Rule 3:
- Your thread must also contain 1 photo or 1 image or 1 screenshot
- Enter a photo/image pertaining to the topic of the contest. The photo/image must be your own, it can be a photo/image you have in your photo archive but you cannot use a photo taken from the web even if it is copyright free and you cannot use AI generated photos.
- Threads containing only a photo or only text will not be considered.
Rule 4:
you can choose to write your thread in Italian language or English language or both.
Rule 5:
you must be a member of the Olio di Balena community.
Contest DEADLINE:
the contest starts today, March 28, 2024 and ends at 11:59 p.m. (Italian time = UTC+1) on Monday, April 1, 2024.
Contest Prizes
- The 5 Threads that generate the biggest interaction will receive 10 LEO = 2.22 HIVE
IMPORTANT NOTE: If the contest will have 4 or fewer entries, LEO prizes will not be awarded. Instead, prizes in HBD will always be awarded.
- 3 Threads will be chosen randomly and win 1 HBD each
- Your thread could also be voted by Inleo
- For every 5 participants I will add a prize of 1 LEO that I will award by drawing to participants who did not receive one of the previous prizes.
- New Update: Starting with this contest I will introduce a new prize awarding mechanism to increase the number of prize-winning participants.
In each contest I will award the most valuable prize among 10 LEOs and 1 HBD first. Those who received the highest value prize will be excluded from awarding the second prize.
The total prizepool of this week's mini contest has a total value = 50 LEO (=10.85 HIVE) + 3 HBD (=11 HIVE) + 3 HBD (= 6.90 HIVE) = 17.90 HIVE = $7.75 + a variable prize in LEO depending on the number of participants
How to Create a Thread in Olio di Balena
(Step-by-step guide)
A Thread is a Twitter-style post created and stored on the Hive blockchain through the use of the Inleo User Interface (UI)
A Community Thread is a thread posted within a Hive community and viewable within the Communities->"Community Name"->Threads section of the Inleo UI.
Olio di Balena community threads can be created and viewed within the Threads section of the page: https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620
A thread is viewable in the Olio di Balena community if it contains the tag #oliodibalena
Creating a Community Thread is a very simple task and I will show you the steps to follow.
Step 1: Login to Inleo.
- Step 1.1: You have to go to https://inleo.io/ and then you have to click on Log in
- Step 1.2: On the next screen you have several log in options to choose from including: LeoAuth, QR Code, Hivesigner, Hive Keychain
- Log in with Hive KeyChain: You have to enter your Hive username, then you have to click on Log in and then you have to click on Confirm within the Hive Keychain screen.
- Log in with LeoAuth: You have to enter your Hive username, your Posting Key and then you have to click on Log in.
Step 2: Enter the Home Page of the Olio di Balena.
- Step 2.1: You need to click on Communities.
- Step 2.2: You must enter "Olio di Balena" or part of the name in the search field.
- Step 2.3: You must click on the box that contains the logo and name of Olio di Balena
- Alternative Step 2: you need to go directly to the link: https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620
Step 3: Create and post the Contest Participation Thread.
- Step 3.1: Within the Home Page of Olio di Balena you need to click on Threads
- Step 3.2: Then you need to enter the text of your thread in the box that contains the #oliodibalena tag
- Step 3.3: Then you need to click on Thread in the bottom right corner.
Operation completed! Easy right? ;)
Now all you have to do is participate in this nice mini contest ;)
Advice: If the text of your thread exceeds the maximum capacity of a single thread you can also write a threadstorm.
In this case only in the first thread you have to insert:
- the tag oliodibalena
- the tag threadstorm
- the 1/x indication where x is the number of threads your threadstorm contains.
All other threads after the first one you must enter them as comments to your first thread indicating for each thread the number of the tread such as 2/5, 3/5, ... 5/5

In the following image you can see the threadstorm (consisting of 1 thread + 3 comments to my thread) that I created for the Odb-Inleo contest a few weeks ago.
The Participants and the Announcement of the Winners of the 28th edition of the Weekend Contest (March 21, 2024 - March 25, 2024)
The Inleo UI is constantly being updated and improved and at this stage of constant updating you may have some temporary difficulties and in fact today I had difficulty viewing all threads with the tag oliodidibalena.
I reported the problem last week via a threads with the #feedback tag but this problem has not been fixed yet but I hope it will be fixed soon.
There are three options for viewing threads with the #oliodibalena tag:
- Option 1: you have to go to https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620 and then click on Threads.
- Option 2: you have to go to https://inleo.io/threads/tag/oliodibalena
- Option 3: you have to go to https://labs.inleo.io/threads/tag/oliodibalena
Unfortunately, even today using the various display options I could not display more than 5 threads with the tag oliodibalena.
However, I found a solution that might be useful to you as well.
I used the Search threads function in which I entered the tag oliodibalena and in this way I was able to see all the threads that participated in the contest.
I am very happy that participation in the previous contest has increased and in fact contest number 29 achieved a record number of entries: 19 participants!
According to the new prize mechanism that is active since contest 28 there will be three more prizes (+1 LEO for every 5 participants) that will be awarded by drawing among participants who did not win a prize in LEO and HBD.

Come Creare un thread nella comunità di Olio di Balena
(Guida passo passo)
Un Thread è un post Twitter-style creato e memorizzato sulla blockchain di Hive tramite l'utilizzo della Inleo User Interface (UI)
Un Community Thread è un thread pubblicato all'interno di una comunità di Hive e visualizzabile all'interno della sezione Communities->"Nome Comunità"->Threads della Inleo UI.
I Community threads della comunità di Olio di Balena possono essere creati e visualizzati nella sezione Threads della pagina: https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620
Nota Importante: Un thread è visualizzabile nella comunità di Olio di Balena se contiene il tag #oliodibalena
Creare un Community Thread è un'operazione molto semplice e ti mostro i passi da seguire.
Passo 1: Login su InLeo
- Passo 1.1: Devi andare su https://inleo.io/ e poi devi cliccare su Log in
- Passo 1.2: Nella schermata successiva hai diverse opzioni di log in tra cui scegliere tra cui: LeoAuth, QR Code, Hivesigner, Hive Keychain
- Log in con Hive KeyChain: Devi inserire il tuo Hive username, poi devi cliccare su Log in e poi devi cliccare su Confirm all'interno della schermata di Hive Keychain.
- LeoAuth: Devi inserire il tuo Hive username, la tua Posting Key e poi devi cliccare su Log in.
Passo 2: Entrare nella Home Page della comunità di Olio di Balena
- Passo 2.1: Devi cliccare su Communities
- Passo 2.2: Devi inserire nel campo di ricerca "Olio di Balena" o parte del nome.
- Passo 2.3: Devi cliccare sul riquadro che contiene il logo e il nome di Olio di Balena
- Passo 2 alternativo: devi andare direttamente al link: https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620
Passo 3: Creare e pubblicare il Thread di partecipazione al mini contest.
- Passo 3.1: All'interno della Home Page di Olio di Balena devi cliccare su Threads
- Passo 3.2: Poi devi inserire il testo del tuo thread nel riquadro che contiene il tag #oliodibalena
- Passo 3.3: Poi devi cliccare su Thread in basso a destra.
Operazione completata! Facile vero? ;)
Adesso non devi fare altro che partecipare a questo bel mini contest ;)
Consiglio: Se il testo del tuo thread è superiore alla capienza massima di un singolo thread puoi anche scrivere un threadstorm.
In questo caso solo nel primo thread devi inserire due tag:
- il tag oliodibalena
- il tag threadstorm
- l'indicazione 1/x dove x è il numero dei threads che contiene il tuo threadstorm.
Tutti gli altri threads devi inserirli come commenti al tuo primo thread indicando per ogni thread il numero del tread come ad esempio 2/5, 3/5, ... 5/5

Nell'immagine seguente puoi vedere il threadstorm (composto da 1 thread + 3 commenti al mio thread) che ho creato io per il contest Odb-Inleo di qualche settimana fa.
I Partecipanti e l'Annuncio dei Vincitori dell'Edizione 29 del Contest (21 marzo 2024 - 25 Marzo 2024)
La Inleo UI è in costante aggiornamento e miglioramento e in questa fase di costante aggiornamento della Inleo Ui potresti avere qualche temporanea difficoltà a visualizzare i threads con uno specifico tag.
Ho segnalato il problema la settimana scorsa tramite un threads con il tag #feedback ma questo problema non è stato ancora risolto ma spero che verrà risolto presto.
Ci sono tre possibilità per visualizzare i threads con il tag #oliodibalena:
- Opzione 1: devi andare su https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620 e poi cliccare su Threads
- Opzione 2: devi andare su https://inleo.io/threads/tag/oliodibalena
- Opzione 3: devi andare su https://labs.inleo.io/threads/tag/oliodibalena
Purtroppo anche oggi utilizzando le varie opzioni di visualizzazione non sono riuscito a visualizzare più di 5 threads con il tag oliodibalena.
Ho però trovato una soluzione che potrebbe essere utile anche a te.
Ho utilizzato la funzione Search threads in cui ho inserito il tag oliodibalena e in questo modo ho avuto la possibilità di vedere tutti i threads che hanno partecipato al contest.
Sono molto felice che la partecipazione al precedente contest è aumentata e infatti il contest numero 29 ha ottenuto il record di partecipazioni: 19 partecipanti!
In base al nuovo meccanismo di premio che è attivo dal contest 28 ci saranno tre premi in più (+1 LEO per ogni 5 partecipanti) che saranno assegnati tramite estrazione tra i partecipanti che non hanno vinto un premio in LEO e in HBD.

Stavolta ho scelto un mio carissimo vecchissimo manuale di testo d'inglese del carissimo antichissimo Istituto Magistrale dei vecchissimi tempi dell'adolescenza (The Cambridge English Course Practice Book). Contiene una carissima vecchissima story a puntate che mi sta a tutt'ora e da anni, anni e anni risultando utilissima con i miei studenti, dato che a dispetto dell'abilitazione per lo spagnolo, continuano a chiedermi imperterriti l'inglese a dispetto del fatto di non possedere lo stesso livello della lingua di laurea...ma tant'è: nelle latine lande, il tuo B1 del quadro comune europeo vale la fluenza di un nativo quando il loro livello linguistico è ben al di sotto del tuo:

the Inleo Ui sometimes has problems adding pictures because it is constantly updating.
I'll give you a tip that's what I do.
You can put your image in an editor other than inleo and in your thread you can paste the link to the image you uploaded in the other editor ;)

Ho provato a partecipare al contest per la prima volta, ma devo ammettere che questo nuovo social mi ha a dir poco deluso, visto che, una volta pubblicata la foto, ed una semplice linea di testo, che avrei voluto far seguire da molto altro, non mi è riuscito, né di modificare il post, scoprendo che, salvo pagare una quota mensile per diventare Premium la cosa non è possibile, né tantomeno di commentare la stessa con altre parti del testo che volevo inserire.
Proverò più tardi a vedere se qualcosa è cambiato, e magari si trattava di un problem momentaneo, ma onestamente devo ammettere che il mio primo impatto con questa nuova piattaforma è decisamente molto deludente, visto che sembra che non funzioni praticamente nulla.
Mi auguro, ovviamente, che sia semplicemente una cosa momentanea, ma la prima impressione certamente non è stata delle migliori... 😠
Se non mi riuscirà di cambiare qualcosa, dubito, tra l'altro, che riuscirò a partecipare al contest, visto che al momento non mi è riuscito di aggiungere alla foto iniziale il perché io tenga così tanto alla mia moto, della quale ho pubblicato la foto, ne null'altro, in realtà...

Anche se mi sono un po' "picchiato", alla fine sono riuscito a cancellare il mio post e rifarlo da capo suddividendolo in più "post".
