Recientemente, se dió la noticia de que habrá una candidata presidencial para las elecciones en Venezuela. Aunque de seguro no soy el único que no espera nada y más bien se encuentra a la expectativa de lo que pueda pasar, tengo un ligero presentimiento de que algo positivo vendrá para el país. Pero este post no es para hablar de política venezolana sino de algo directa e indirectamente relacionado: la constante y grave falla de servicios básicos que existe en el país.
Hace ya alrededor de 1 año que me encuentro en España, y es inevitable realizar la comparación en este tema, sobre todo cuando tienes amigos y familiares que constantemente comentan en redes sociales de las fallas eléctricas en Venezuela.
Este post, más que una comparación es una reflexión personal y quizás una enseñanza al respecto, desde mi punto de vista. Quizás te sorprenda o no compartas esta idea🔥
Hay algo que ya más o menos sabia o intuía desde que estaba en Venezuela, y es que cosas externas y a veces superficiales como los son ciertas comodidades del mundo moderno no son necesarias o indispensables para tener una vida relativamente exitosa y feliz.
Sí, es cierto, en un mundo tan avanzado tecnológicamente es absurdo que se tenga que vivir con constantes fallas eléctricas y de otros servicios, y puede llegar a ser frustrante. Creo que esto es más que nada indispensable para aquellos que más lo requieren, personas en hospitales, por ejemplo. Pero tú, que no dependes de la energía eléctrica para vivir, qué quizás estabas cómodo en tu casa viendo una película y se te va la luz, ponte a pensar ¿Realmente podrias ser más exitoso o feliz teniendo servicios básicos perfectos?
Desde que vivo aquí en España, la energía eléctrica se ha ido 2 o 3 veces, y ha durado así no más de 20 minutos. El agua nunca ha faltado, y el gas tampoco. El internet que tengo tiene una velocidad decente, aunque a veces se pone lento, rara vez se cae. Nunca se me han acabado los datos en el móvil.
Sin embargo, a pesar de todas estas "comodidades" (en comparación a muchas personas en Venezuela), conociéndonos bien a nosotros como seres humanos que somos, no es suficiente, nunca será suficiente. Es increíble cómo te puedes acostumbrar rápidamente a tener todas estas cosas y sustituir carencias por otras.
Si bien no como en restaurantes y rara vez como en la calle, puedo decir que todas las semanas como cosas como pizza, carne, pollo, ensaladas, leche, frutas, hamburguesa, etc. Sin embargo, al menos desde mi punto de vista, no considero o no siento que todas estas cosas y comodidades me hagan sentir más exitoso o feliz de lo que era en Venezuela.
En el fondo, todo esto es pura superficialidad, pura materia. Lo que realmente te puede hacer sentir más feliz o más exitoso, además de tu propia mentalidad y fuerza interior, es la posibilidad de avanzar en la vida, de abrir tu camino y construir tu futuro. Millones de personas se hubieran quedado en Venezuela si a pesar de las carencias físicas hubieran tenido la posibilidad de crecer y construir algo allá, teniendo garantías, teniendo seguridad.
Si tuvieras luz todo el día, si tuvieras comida de sobra, si nunca te faltase el agua, si el transporte público fuera perfecto ¿Realmente crees que pudieses ser más feliz o exitoso o seguirías poniéndote excusas para no lograr lo que quieres? Es algo a reflexionar. Luego, está el otro factor, aquí debes trabajar para sustentar todos esos servicios básicos, sin eso probablemente vas a parar a la calle. La próxima vez que se te vaya la luz, en lugar de enojarte, disfruta de las pequeñas cosas, comparte con tus familiares, como el ser humano siempre hizo desde antes de que hubiese luz eléctrica.

But this post is not to talk about Venezuelan politics but about something directly and indirectly related: the constant and serious failure of basic services in the country.
I have been in Spain for about 1 year now, and it is inevitable to make a comparison on this topic, especially when you have friends and family who constantly comment on social networks about the power failures in Venezuela.
This post, more than a comparison is a personal reflection and perhaps a teaching in this regard, from my point of view. Maybe you will be surprised or you will not share this idea🔥.
There is something that I already more or less knew or sensed since I was in Venezuela, and that is that external and sometimes superficial things such as certain comforts of the modern world are not necessary to have a relatively successful and happy life.
Yes, it is true, in such a technologically advanced world it is absurd to have to live with constant electrical and other service failures, and it can be frustrating. I think this is mostly indispensable for those who need it most, people in hospitals, for example. But you, who do not depend on electricity to live, who maybe were comfortable in your house watching a movie and the power goes out, think about it, could you really be more successful or happier having perfect basic services?
Since I have lived here in Spain, the power has gone out 2 or 3 times, and it has lasted no more than 20 minutes. Water has never failed, and neither has gas. The internet I have has a decent speed, although it sometimes gets slow, it rarely crashes. I have never run out of data on my cell phone.
However, despite all these "comforts" (in comparison to many people in Venezuela), knowing us well as the human beings we are, it is not enough, it will never be enough. It's amazing how you can quickly get used to having all these things and substitute other things for the lack of them.
While I don't eat in restaurants and rarely eat on the street, I can say that every week I eat things like pizza, meat, chicken, salads, milk, fruits, hamburgers, etc. However, at least from my point of view, I don't consider or don't feel that all these things and comforts make me feel more successful or happy than I was in Venezuela.
In the end, all this is pure superficiality, pure matter. What can make you feel happier or more successful, besides your mentality and inner strength, is the possibility to move forward in life, open your path, and build your future. Millions of people would have stayed in Venezuela if, despite the physical shortages, they would have had the possibility to grow and build something there, having guarantees, having security.
If you had electricity all day long, if you had plenty of food, if you never lacked water, if the public transportation was perfect, do you think you could be happier or more successful or would you continue to make excuses for not achieving what you want? It is something to reflect on. Then, there is the other factor, you must work to sustain all those basic services, without that you are probably going to end up on the street. The next time your electricity goes out, instead of getting angry, enjoy the little things, and share with your family, as human beings have always done since before there was electricity.
