MORNING IN THE HARBOR

In this wide, opening shot, you can take a look at a good chunk of the setting and the morning atmosphere in the harbor.

Here you can see the lovely flowers of the Mirabilis jalapa plant. These plants were very common in the narrow streets of my hometown a decade or two ago, but recently I noticed that they somehow disappeared there.

Mirabilis jalapa regularly grows from the holes and fissures in between the road and the old houses. Here you can see them grow near the small shacks used for storage of stuff related to fishing and boat maintenance.

On one of those small buildings, I found a small empty bottle. The bottle was mounted horizontally on the robust nail in the facade, but the photograph looked better vertically, so I changed the layout.

Not far from there, on one of the piers, a man was angling.

Down in the shallow water, a beer can was swaying with the slow movements of the sea in the quiet bay.

The tide was very low.

The low tide uncovered many coastal sea snails that live in that area between the land and the sea.

These mollusks are edible so this was a good occasion for a free meal.

Today, I drove a couple of kilometers to the small harbor of Liznjan. Liznjan is still a relatively small village and a much quieter place in summer than Medulin, my hometown. There is plenty of coastline with many beaches in the Liznjan area, but with fewer hotels and similar infrastructures, everything is more relaxed and natural.
