El semestre pasado, con mi grupo de PAC (Proyecto Artístico Comunitario), realizamos un documental acerca de la Historia de la Danza en Venezuela; esto dio pie a idear un proyecto personal que posteriormente propuse a mis compañeros como amigos y todos se apuntaron para participar, este proyecto consiste en hacer varios mini documentales hacerca de los distintos PNF (Planes Nacionales de Formación) o carreras que imparte UNEARTE
Para este semestre decidimos hacer el documental acerca del PNF de Teatro, como Diego conoce mucha gente de este rubro debido a que su familia forma parte de la población teatral de Venezuela, decidí cederle la dirección y la libertad creativa para realizar este documental. Su idea fue hacer un docu-drama, lo que quiere decir que va a haber una parte de entrevistas (el documental) y una parte de ficción (el drama); al estar hablando de teatro, o sea, actuación, me pareció increíble realizar este proyecto de esta forma así que fue un luz verde total.
Last semester, with my group of CAP (Community Artistic Project), we made a documentary about the History of Dance in Venezuela; this gave rise to devise a personal project that later I proposed to my colleagues as friends and everyone signed up to participate, this project is to make several mini documentaries about the various NTP (National Training Plans) or careers that UNEARTE teaches.
For this semester we decided to make the documentary about the NTP of Theater, as Diego knows many people in this field because his family is part of the theatrical population of Venezuela, I decided to give him the direction and creative freedom to make this documentary. His idea was to make a docu-drama, which means that there will be a part of interviews (the documentary) and a part of fiction (the drama); since we are talking about theater, that is, acting, it seemed incredible to me to make this project in this way, so it was a total green light.
La parte de preproducción fue algo larga debido a que necesitábamos mucha utilería para la parte de ficción y los actores que se eligieron para estas escenas, requerían un tiempo para prepararse; en este proyecto decidí salirme un poco de mi zona de confort yendome por la parte de Producción el cuál es el área que menos me gusta o donde no me siento tan cómoda en una producción audiovisual.
Ha sido complejo asumir un rol en el cual no me siento del todo cómoda pero me encanta retarme y demostrarme que sí puedo hacer todo lo que me proponga; también estoy como asistente en Dirección de Arte, un poco para equilibrar entre hacer algo que no me gusta del todo con algo que adoro y más porque trabajo al lado de una de mis grandes amigas de la universidad, Orianna, quién es una increíble directora de arte y con quién comparto clases de maquillaje, así que tenemos una sincronía muy bonita.
The pre-production part was a bit long because we needed a lot of props for the fiction part and the actors that were chosen for these scenes, required some time to prepare; in this project I decided to get out of my comfort zone and go for the Production part which is the area that I like the least or where I don't feel so comfortable in an audiovisual production.
It has been complex to take on a role in which I don't feel completely comfortable but I love to challenge myself and show myself that I can do anything I set my mind to; I am also working as an assistant Art Director, a little bit to balance between doing something I don't like and something I love and more because I work next to one of my great friends from college, Orianna, who is an incredible art director and with whom I share makeup classes, so we have a very nice synchronicity.
El lunes estuvimos acondicionando el Foso para poder empezar las grabaciones esta semana, empezamos a rodar el miércoles desde temprano, fue un día que demandó muchísima energía y esfuerzo físico pero como todos estamos tan comprometidos y le tenemos tanto amor a nuestro trabajo, no se sintió pesado ni tedioso en ningún momento.
Ser de la producción significa caminar por muchos lados, buscar, comparar precios, comprar, pedir permisos, redactar cartas, gestionar dinero, atender al elenco, entre otras muchas actividades que demandan mucha energía pero la compañía de Nicole en este rol hizo que el trabajo fuese mucho más ameno, aparte que ella me estuvo guiando en todo momento para no sucumbir ante la ansiedad.
On Monday we were preparing the pit to be able to start filming this week, we started shooting early on Wednesday, it was a day that demanded a lot of energy and physical effort but because we are all so committed and have so much love for our work, it didn't feel heavy or tedious at any time.
Being part of the production means walking through many places, searching, comparing prices, buying, asking for permits, writing letters, managing money, attending to the cast, among many other activities that demand a lot of energy but Nicole's company in this role made the work much more enjoyable, besides she was guiding me at all times so I didn't succumb to anxiety.
El día fue largo, empezó a las 7 am y terminamos casi a las 7 pm, 12 horas de rodaje continuo con solo una hora de descanso para comer y estirar las piernas; aunque llegamos exhaustos a nuestras casas, logramos grabar todas las escenas que teníamos previstas para ese día así que fue un éxito total y absoluto.
Estoy muy orgullosa de mi equioo, de el gran desempeño de Diego como director, de Manuel, Joseph y Azul cómo operadores de cámara, de Jeremy y Jose como sonidistas pero sobretodo de Orianna por la increíble escenografía que armo, la maravillosa utilería que diseño y estar tan pendiente de los vestuarios como maquillaje de los actores, fue un placer asistirla en este proyecto; sin dejar de mencionar el gran trabajo que hizo Nicole como producción ejecutiva, no hubiese podido haber hecho nada de eso sin su ayuda.
The day was long, it started at 7 am and we finished almost at 7 pm, 12 hours of continuous shooting with only an hour break to eat and stretch our legs; although we arrived home exhausted, we managed to shoot all the scenes we had planned for that day so it was a total and absolute success.
I am very proud of my team, of the great performance of Diego as director, of Manuel, Joseph and Azul as camera operators, of Jeremy and Jose as soundmen but most of all of Orianna for the incredible scenery she put together, the wonderful props she designed and being so attentive to the costumes and makeup of the actors, it was a pleasure to assist her in this project; not to mention the great job Nicole did as executive producer, I could not have done any of it without her help.
Estoy muy orgullosa de todos, de toda la producción como de los actores y de mí por atreverme a hacer algo que no es de mi agrado y aún así lo he dado todo. Este solo es el comienzo, aún queda más rodaje por delante y muchos años para seguir ejerciendo mi carrera con la pasión que aumenta día tras día.

I am very proud of everyone, of the whole production, of the actors and of myself for daring to do something that is not to my liking and yet I have given it my all. This is only the beginning, there is still more filming ahead and many years to continue my career with the passion that grows day by day.
