I have been working on creating myself a little shooting range on a particular piece of property on the homestead where I am away from everyone and can shoot in peace. So while the rest of the family that lives around me was a church, I had my own church, out in nature, with a hail of bullets instead of hail mary's, haha.

The primary reason for today's trip was to get my scope on my .22LR rifle sighted in at 50 yards. This way, I know the trajectory of my bullet at different distances. I am gearing up to do some predator hunting on the property because we have had an influx of coyotes and bobcats in our area that had almost completely depleated our turkey, rabbit, and other small game populations in our area. So we need to get this situation under control.

I have been seeing a bunch of coyote scat around, even on our main farm road where you can tell their paths. One of the tracks is coming across my yard. My dog is an old boy and my mom has a little white snack of a dog, not to mention the livestock around (chickens and my uncle's cows with baby calves), so we need to protect them against the wild predators. My uncle has already gotten a few on camera near his cows, so we know what they are after, and they can't have it!

So what is a dude to do? Get my rifle ready and get to hunting! It's all part of the homesteading process. Gotta do what you've gotta do.

As you can see from the pictures though, I successfully got my scope all sighted in and hitting the bull's eye! First few shots were warm up, then I really started to see where the scope was after the first magazine. What is cool about these targets is for one, you can see where you are hitting, so it makes it easier to see from a distance. Then once you have unloaded a magazine, you can use the stickers to cover up the holes and go again. This saves money by using one target.

So you keep going until you are hitting dead on, several times in a row. So believe me when I say that what ever I will be aiming at will come out on the dead side, haha. Now I know some of you are lovers and don't believe in guns, but they are a needed tool when you live in the country. You have to take care of your land and livestock which includes controlling wildlife populations that can damage your ecosystems.

Anyway, I know it's not Sunday anymore, I just got lazy when I got back and forgot to post this, haha.

Until next time,

Be cool, be real, and always abide!

A on site range is so much fun?

Yep, it’s my own little spot that nobody else uses. Going to set it up in the fall as a green field and deer hunt it.

So hunting post up next?

Just more or less sitting in the back yard at the wood line with the gun at night waiting, lol.

That is hard to take pictures of.
