It is Christmas Holidays here, so my priority will be on family time for the next 2 weeks! We started the day with some ice skating with my girls and two of their friends from school which was pretty fun (fearless little monsters)!
In the afternoon I had some time to squize in some me-time and do a short run. This run was mostly just having fun, so I decided to stay in heartrate zone 2 and include 6 strides (20 sec).

For the strides I just wanted feel good strides, no overreaching so I aimed at a pace 3:00 to 3:30 min / km. That way these strides do give you the enjoyment of going fast, but are not as intense as an all out sprint.

While I personally love zone 4 intensity the most, as it really feels like pushing yourself near the max (without getting too tired to fast as in zone 5), I do start to appreaciate the lower intensity zones more and more. Not only because I notice its effect on my running economy, but also as it no longer feels too slow or unnatural - I can just chill while running. Empty my head and basicly make a grossery list if I would want to (infact, I was working on the menu for Christmas Eve during this run) . Clearing the mind and getting more fit without burning all your energy , so that is pretty cool!

Happy running !
Funny how kids are fearless isn't it? lol
That's great to be able to have an enjoyable fun run without taxing yourself. It does feel great to empty your head of thoughts unless you want to, and was great time to work on that Christmas Eve menu! A great use of time while enjoying and taking in all of the great scenery
Hopefully you can get out to California at some point to compete here! Enjoy your Christmas and family time, that's the most important part of the holidays. I miss have younger kids around, it makes it so much more fun!

Christmas is a great time of especially if you have little ones. My son now has a daughter and I visited them last night to help build some presents. It brought back a lot of good memories.
