Gerbera is a plant native to the tropics of the South American, African and Asian regions. The first scientific description of Gerbera was made by JD Hooker in 1889 compilation he developed Gerbera jamesonii, a South African species also known as Transvaal Daisy or Barberton Daisy. Gerbera is also known as African Daisy.

Gerbera is very popular and is widely used as an ornamental plant in a city garden or home page. The domesticated cultivars are largely the result of crosses, They vary greatly in shape and size. Colors include white, yellow, orange, red, and pink. The middle part of the flower is sometimes black. Often the same flower can have petals with several different colors.
