En mi post pasado les hablaba de la decisión que tomamos mi esposa y yo de modificar el estacionamiento de nuestra casa y nos decidimos por transformar el portón.

In my last post I told you about the decision my wife and I made to modify the parking lot of our house and we decided to transform the gate.

En este post les hablaré de todo lo que hicimos y pasamos para que el trabajo se realizará, gracias a Dios con éxito.

Luego de conversar con el herrero y ponernos de acuerdo cuando empezaría hacer el trabajo, empecé por comprar el material requerido, él se puso a la orden para acompañarme a la ferretería, me pareció muy conveniente y acepte la propuesta.

After talking with the blacksmith and agreeing when we would start doing the work, I started by buying the required material, he agreed to accompany me to the hardware store, it seemed very convenient and I accepted the proposal.

Muy temprano salimos a revisar los locales donde había más posibilidad de encontrar mejores precios, revisamos 4 establecimientos, pero no conseguimos las cabillas cuadradas que necesitábamos, fue por medio una persona que nos informó que fuéramos a una ferretería en la avenida bella vista.

Very early we went out to check the stores where we could find better prices, we checked 4 establishments, but we did not get the square rods we needed, it was through a person who told us to go to a hardware store on bella vista avenue.

Nos dirigimos para allá, al llegar inmediatamente pregunté, si tenían cabillas cuadradas de media, la persona que nos atendió me informaron que sí tenían, ¡que alegría! fue más satisfactorio aún cuando el muchacho que me atendía con el pedido, me dijo que tenían todo el material que necesitaba, eso fue excelente, ya teníamos resuelto lo de los materiales, eso fue lo primero que pensé.

We went there, when we got there I immediately asked if they had square sprockets, the person who attended us informed me that they had, what a joy! It was even more satisfying when the guy who attended me with the order, told me that they had all the material I needed, that was excellent, we had already solved the materials, that was the first thing I thought.

Me informo del monto y solicité la factura, hasta aquí todo iba muy bien, hasta que me preguntó cómo le cancelaría, inmediatamente le hice saber que pagaría con dólares. El trabajador me notificó que no estaban aceptando dólares por motivo del nuevo impuesto, que estaba entrando en vigencia en esos días, que solo estaban recibiendo bolívares, que problema ahora, fue lo que se me vino a la cabeza.

He informed me of the amount and I asked for the invoice, up to this point everything was going very well, until he asked me how I would pay him, I immediately let him know that I would pay with dollars. The worker notified me that they were not accepting dollars because of the new tax, which was coming into effect in those days, that they were only receiving bolivars, what a problem now, was what came to my mind.

Intenté llegar a un acuerdo con él pero me mandó hablar con el supervisor, el cual me confirmó la información, con un poco de rabia e impotencia por la situación, nos fuimos hasta el estacionamiento y recordé que un amigo conocía al dueño de esa ferretería.

I tried to reach an agreement with him but he sent me to talk to the supervisor, who confirmed the information, with a bit of anger and impotence for the situation, we went to the parking lot and I remembered that a friend knew the owner of that hardware store.

Le hice una llamada y le conté todo lo sucedido, me ofreció hablar con el dueño, me recomendó que esperara allí un poco mientras lograba comunicarse y luego me devolvía la llamada, lo hice así, a los pocos minutos llamó y me dijo que volviera a dentro del local, que el supervisor me llamaría, esa fue la información que el dueño le dio, me llegó el alma al cuerpo. Hice tal como me dijo y esperé.

I made a call and told him everything that had happened, he offered me to talk to the owner, he recommended me to wait there a little while he could get through and then call me back, I did so, a few minutes later he called and told me to go back inside the store, that the supervisor would call me, that was the information that the owner gave him, I got my soul to the body. I did as he told me and waited.

Pasaron unos veinte minutos y nada que me llamaban, me dirigí nuevamente a hablar con el supervisor y me dijo que esperara un poco, vuelvo a llamar a mi compadre que conocía al dueño y le informé que aún estaba en espera, muy molesto dice que volvería a llamar a su amigo, en esos minutos me llama el supervisor y me dice que facture, al parecer escuchó parte de lo que conversaba vía telefónica con el compadre.

About twenty minutes went by and no call, I went back to talk to the supervisor and he told me to wait a little bit, I called my compadre who knew the owner and informed him that I was still on hold, very upset he said he would call his friend back, in those minutes the supervisor called me and told me to invoice, apparently he heard part of what I was talking about over the phone with my compadre.

Me dirigí a facturar a pagar y a retirar el material, dando gracias a Dios y a mi compadre, de vuelta a casa bajamos el material, Manuel la persona que nos va a hacer el trabajo, me dice que empezaría el día siguiente a primera hora.

I went to invoice to pay and pick up the material, thanking God and my compadre, back home we took the material down, Manuel, the person who was going to do the work, told me that he would start the next day first thing in the morning.

Efectivamente al otro día empezamos la modificación del portón, el soldador le llevó terminar el trabajo en dos semanas entre problemas familiares de él y inconvenientes con una parte del portón que estaba un poco dañado por el tiempo, mal cálculo del material e ideas que fueron surgiendo de personas especialistas en el tema a medida que se iba realizando la remodelación.

Indeed the next day we started the modification of the gate, the welder took him to finish the work in two weeks between family problems and inconveniences with a part of the gate that was a little damaged by time, miscalculation of the material and ideas that were emerging from specialists in the field as the remodeling was being done.

Cabe destacar, que aún me resta colocarle un riel con ruedas en la parte de abajo, para mejorar el funcionamiento del portón. También debo colocarle un anticorrosivo para posteriormente pintar. Ya más adelante les estaré mostrando estos toques. me despido de ustedes amigos lectores y les dejo por acá fotos del trabajo realizado.

It should be noted that I still have to put a rail with wheels at the bottom, to improve the operation of the gate. I also have to apply an anticorrosive and then paint it.
