Naughty cat

I adopted a mischievous cat, one of those that seem to arrive in your life unannounced but with the intention of turning everything upside down. I rescued her from the street, bathed her patiently with lukewarm water, and from day one I took care of feeding and looking after her. At first, she was a little shy, though not overly so; there was something in the way she looked at me that said she trusted me, and I liked that. I think she felt it would be a safe place for her. I believe animals have that power, although many are too gentle for humanity.

The interesting thing is that as the weeks went by, her true personality began to emerge. After a month at home, that quiet little ball of fluff transformed into a whirlwind of energy. Now she wants to play all the time; she runs, jumps, and explores. The problem is that in the midst of her fun, she has mercilessly destroyed several of my plants. I suppose for her they are just more toys, although for me they were very special, my companions.

She's also learned to demand: more food, more attention, more cuddles. And she does it without any shame. Sometimes she greets me when I get home, and I like to think it's because she misses me… although a part of me suspects she's just reminding me it's time to eat. Either way, her presence has changed my routine, and I like that.
