Hola everyone i just want to share with you about my NC2 in Cookery experience
Last monday June 2, 2025 i am scheduled for my NC2 hands on training, the night before the training i studied for the possible questions so that i could answer what the assessor ask me since it is a part of the training if you are knowledgeable enough to pass. Since i am not that good at cooking i am so nervous i might fail. This is our Subject's project that's why we have to do this and this certificate will help us in the future to get hired by the company and for the position that we are applying for.
The day of the training i arrived 6:30AM at our school since the training will be held on our school's kitchen. The kitchen is already open so right after i came in i wear my proper attire right away (Chef's gown). It is around 7am when the assessor came and he start the training right away. First he oriented us on what we have to do and what are the dishes or food that we are going to prepare he aloted us 2hrs to finish our dish and we have to make Dessert, vegetable salad, main course, appetizer, side dish, canape,sandwich and a soup. The moment he told us that we could start already. We Hurriedly go to the tables where the ingredients were placed. I got mango, Cucumber, Onion, garlic, salt, peper, tomato sauce flour and many more.
The first one that i made it the mango dessert, in a blowl i put cream and condensed milk after that i set it aside and start cutting the mango into small cubes, i put it in a bowl together with the milk mixture and set aside to proceed to making cucumber salad. I got another bowl again and cut the cucumber into small cubes and put mayo, a little bit of salt and pepper. I just mixed it all together and i'm done with the salad. The next one that i made is the tomato soup. In a pot i just put water and let it simme while i was waiting for the water to simmer i got my porkchop and wash it and marinate it with salt because i will make it cebuano style porkchop adobo. When the water is simmering already i put the tomato sauce and a bit of flour to make it sticky i just put salt and peper to taste and put onion for additional aroma. When it is cooked i get my soup plate and put it there and i start preheating the pan with oil for my adobo. When it is hot already i put my adobo slowly and let it cook until it is cooked based on my preferred doneness. For my side dish i only have vegetables for it. Since i am not being able to get potato and carrot i just ask my classmate if i could have a little bit op those to and thankfully they gave me. While i was waiting for the adobo to cook i wash the pan that i am using with my soup and put water for it to boil. While waiting i sliced the carrots and potato into thin slice and put it in the pan to boil. I always check my adobo and flip it if needed so that it will not overcook. After that i made an appetizer, sandwich and a canape. For the appetizer it is only cheese and wrapped with ham and for my canape i just put random stuff in the biscuits lol since phones are not allowed so we have to make anything on our own. When i am done am plating it to make presentable.
After everything the assessor called us and gave us paper where we can write our dish ingredient's after that we passed it and proceed with the question and answer. I was so nervous that time because he is strict and his voice made me uneasy too but i think he has to do that since it was a training and my classmate said that he is a good professor but just strict when it come to training. When it is my turn he asked me more than 10 questions and thanfully i am able to answer it all. After that he announced if we are COMPETENT or INCOMPETENT and in god's grace all of us passed. We took a photo together with our foods on the table.
That time was very memorable for me and i am proud to ourselves too that we passed it. We only allowed to use our phone after the assessment and me and my friend take a picture together with our food for memories.
