A few days ago I uploaded some stories to Instagram studying an Opera, in the small video the deviation of my jaw is very evident. A user reacted to my video with the following: "Do you have facial paralysis? My daughter wants to study singing but she cannot do it because she gave her paralysis." I must confess that this comment took me by surprise because for many years that topic was quite sensitive for me. But I reflected and I thought about how many people surely may be thinking that because they have some condition they cannot do some activity and fulfill themselves as people, artists and individuals. I explained to this user that she did not have facial paralysis, my condition is called Condylar Hyperplasia.
I will explain a little that she treats each case, facial paralysis is a numbness or excessive muscle flaccidity that can be corrected with physical therapy and occupational therapy. Condylar Hyperplasia is when the condyle of an important bone in the face grows more on one side than the other, causing a deviation of the jaw. Continuing with the video, I recommended to this person that the best thing to do is go to a specialist and be guided by specialists. The immediate advice was also never to tell her daughter that she can't achieve something. Everything we set out to do in life we can do.
