Greetings guys, have a happy day. We continued visiting places at the end of the world, in my short but very fruitful stay, in this far away and cold region of the American continent, it allowed me to know diverse places, all full of history that enriches and brings that attraction to the place. In this short photo session I will show three places that I liked because they represent and have an important symbolism for the country. We will go on to know the geographical half of the country, a hydrographic expedition and even an English cemetery. Come with me to enjoy and contemplate a little more of this place, without saying more than begin.
Saludos chicos, tengan todos un feliz día. Continuamos visitando lugares en el fin del mundo, en mi corta pero muy fructífera estadía, en esta lejana y fría región del continente americano, me permitió conocer diversos lugares, todos llenos de historia que enriquecen y le aportan ese atractivo al lugar. En esta breve sesión de fotos mostrare tres lugares que me gustaron por representar y tener una simbología importante para el país, pasaremos a conocer la mitad geográfica del país, una expedición hidrográfica y hasta un cementerio inglés. Acompáñenme a disfrutar y contemplar un poco más de este lugar, sin más que decir empecemos.
Half of Chile's Geography / Mitad Geografica de Chile
We started with the geographical half of Chile, although you can't believe it, half of Chile is in this place, as it is expressed "Milestone that indicates that from this geographical point to the limit with Peru in the north and the South Pole in the extreme south, it is the same amount of kilometers", being half taking into account the extension of the South Pole, since this country has territory in that place.
Empezamos con la mitad geográfica de Chile, aunque no lo crean la mitad de Chile se encuentra en este lugar, según como se expresa “Hito que indica que desde este punto geográfico hasta el límite con el Perú por el norte y el Polo Sur por el extremo austral, dista la misma cantidad de kilómetros”, siendo la mitad tomando en cuenta la extensión del Polo Sur, ya que este país posee territorio en ese lugar.
It is located approximately 58 km from the city of Punta Arenas, where he lived.
Se encuentra ubicado aproximadamente a 58 Km de la ciudad de Punta Arenas, lugar donde residía.
It is a very nice place, and very well cared for, if one day you are going to know it I recommend you to go very well sheltered, the cold is inclement and the winds are usually strong.
Es un lugar muy lindo, y muy bien cuidado, si algún día van a conocerlo les recomiendo, ir muy bien abrigados, el frio es inclemente y los vientos suelen arremeter con fuerza.
Historical place. British Hydrographic Expedition / Lugar Historico. Expedicion Hidrografica Britanica
We came to know a historical site in Chile, the British Hydrographic Expedition, this expedition was under the command of Phillip Parker King, who carried out surveys in the Magallanes region between the years 1826 to 1830, this was of great importance at that time and contributed vast information regarding those seas, their many coasts and their original inhabitants.
Pasamos a conocer un sitio histórico de Chile, la Expedición Hidrográfica Británica, esta expedición estuvo al mando de Phillip Parker King, el cual efectuó reconocimientos en la región de Magallanes entre los años 1826 a 1830, esta tuvo gran importancia para ese momento y que aportó una vasta información referente a aquellos mares, sus multiples costas y sus habitantes originarios.
In this place, a tribute to Rear Admiral Phillip Parker King was raised, in gratitude for his hydrographic works in the area.
En este lugar se levantó un homenaje al Contraalmirante Phillip Parker King, como agradecimiento a sus trabajos hidrográficos en la zona.
We also find another tribute to another great man, this is the father of the theory of evolution, Charles Darwin, this place served as a source of study and research that helped him develop his theory.
También encontramos otro homenaje a otro gran hombre, se trata del padre de la teoría de la evolución, Charles Darwin, este lugar sirvió como fuente de estudio e investigación que lo ayudo a desarrollar su teoría.
English Cemetery / Cemeterio Ingles
Finally we will know another place of great historical importance for the country, it is an English cemetery, for the time there were many expeditions that focused on knowing in depth this hostile territory, the hydrographic works in the interior and even exterior seas of the Strait of Magellan, The precarious conditions and the inclement cold often caused the sailors severe depressions, as is the case of Captain Pringle Stokes, a hydrographer of the British Royal Navy, Stokes went through a critical depressive state which led him to commit suicide, ending his life on August 12, 1828.
Finalmente conoceremos otro lugar de gran importancia histórica para el país, se trata de un cementerio inglés, para la época existieron muchas expediciones que se centraron en conocer a fondo este hostil territorio, los trabajos hidrográficos en los mares interiores y aun exteriores del estrecho de Magallanes, las condiciones precarias y el frio inclemente muchas veces ocasionaban a los marinos severas depresiones, como es el caso del Capitán Pringle Stokes, un hidrógrafo de la Real Marina Británica, Stokes pasaba por un estado depresivo crítico lo cual lo llevo a suicidarse, terminando con su vida el 12 de agosto de 1828.
On this large white cross lie the remains of Captain Stokes, who, despite being lashed by gales and strong blizzards, can still be read the words, "Commander Pringle Stokes, RN HMS Beagle, who died from the effects of the anxieties and hardships while surveying the waters and shores of Tierra del Fuego".
En esta gran cruz blanca yacen los restos del Capitán Stokes, que a pesar de ser azotada por vendavales y fuertes ventiscas, todavía se pueden leer las palabras, “Commander Pringle Stokes, RN HMS Beagle, who died from the effects of the anxieties and hardships while surveying the waters and shores of Tierra del Fuego”.
