A Day in The New Normal

in GEMS4 years ago

The quarantine phase is over. People are able to move more freely within their area. Many business center starts operating and so are shopping malls. People are also going out more so streets starting to get crowded. The new normal looks alright but it changes the way people transport and the travel. For instance, on Monday I went to the grocery store using GRAB. It was interesting to see an option called "GRAB Protect". I chose this type of ride out of curiosity. It turned out, the bike rider came with extra shield.

Apparently this type of ride has extra protection. As in, the bike is sanitized daily and even the helmet. Though it is advised to bring your own helmet. Meanwhile for the car ride, there is also a separator between the driver and the passenger. The driver told me that he sanitized the car daily and the company gave him the equipment. Not to mention, it also being cleaned weekly. Price wise, both are more expensive than a regular ride. So if you want extra fake protection, this type of ride might do. I mean seriously, public things are not 100% clean. Let's not forget that there are virus and bacteria not just Covid-19. TBC for instance, spreads through fine droplets, so let that sink in. Anyway, I went to the grocery store.

There are procedures before entering some establishment like supermarket;

  • Shoppers have to wash their hand before entering the place.Though I suggest wearing disposable gloves if you are about to touch the shopping cart. I don't really trust if the staffs are sanitizing the cart properly.
  • After that, shopper will get their temperature checked. If you have above 38 temperature, you are denied from entering the place.
  • Children are generally refrained from entering the supermarket. Though I still see elders which they shouldn't. I feel sorry for them for not having any family to shop in behalf of them.

It was a pleasant experience because there were only a few people inside the place. I got some food and snack and filling up my cart since I won't use take-away. I got some ingredients to make Tom Yum Soup and Lazy Salad. I also get purple yam and potatoes.Oh yeah and 1,2kg of oatmeal. I think I am going to be very sick of eating oatmeal. So you might as well tune for my oatmeal experiment.

On the way back, I spotted a group of street musician. Well, not them but their equipment. I assumed they were on a short break since it really was a hot and sunny day. Their music is really soothing though I didn't get the chance to listen to it that time.

After I passed through the traffic light, I capture the sky. It was really a beautiful day and I was happy that I decided to go out. I told the driver that it would be a great day for beach. but the driver told me that beaches are only open starting from July.

I was in awe of that clouds. I love drawing them and I've been thinking about that. That moment, I also thought about that some memories are better enjoyed directly instead seeing it from the screen. Then, after a little outside time, I got back to my tiny world hoping for another adventure soon. And that was it, a day in my new normal.

Twitter to Hive and then Hive to Twitter. I am quite fascinated with what they did with Grabbike. Grabacar makes sense to be able to distance customers but how do they do that in a bike? You are much closer than the mandatory 2m physical distancing, right?

This is how it actually looks like. I found this on net. And definitely to avoid being too close, they use this extra shield. At least, passenger is separated and not too close. I found it funny at first though.

Face shield is also a thing here.
