How I designed this new A line dress

in GEMS3 years ago

Hello Hiveians

Today am showing us the processes I followed to make a new dress for a client. Sometimes I meet very thick persons such that when am making their clothes the outfit is way bigger than me and I just have to struggle round about it to get designed properly

I did complete one of such yesterday an A line dress using this African print fabric.

The first process was cutting both the fabric and the lining of which I used the lining to turn the dress in.

The next step was for me to fix the sleeve after joining both the front and back block.
In situations where I could not find a matching zip I used one I believed to be more closer in color to the design on the fabric, you can see that here from the comparison I made of the zip on the outfit.

The zip did not match the background color of the dress but looks similar to its design pattern and I fixed it that way.

The next step was to cut and fix a two part sleeve which consist of a short sleeve part in which a smaller ball part was attached, I had some help getting that done as this was made in a rush.

And the final finishing of weaving and ironing followed. I weaved out all the in seam allowances to get a neater cloth on the inside.

That is the design process for this new dress and I do hope you like it.
