Everything is destined. Be it the natural process or human act everything is supposed to get the desired result at a particular time. There are no way that we get control over the desired result before them.
Our elders always taught us to keep the good deeds going as we never knew on when fateful day we get the blessings from them. It is not necessary that the results are quick or prompt. Our Sanskrit scholars too have a saying on this and presented the following verses.
अचोद्यमानानि यथा पुष्पाणि च फलानि च|
स्वं कालं नाSतिवर्तन्ते तथा कर्म पुराकृतम् ||
Achodyamaanaani yathaa pshpaani cha phalaani cha.
Svam kaalam naativartante tathaa karma puraakrutam.

Achodyamaanaani = without any inspiration or inducement.
Yathaa = for instance.
Pushpaani = flowers.
Cha = and.
Phalaani = fruits.
Svam = self
Kaalam = at the appropriate time.
Naativartante = na + ati + vartante.
Na = not.
Ati = too much.
Vartante = behave.
Tathaa = similarly.
Karma = deeds, actions.
Puraakrutaa = actions done long ago.
The above verses means Just as the flowers and fruits grow on trees at the appropriate time without any inspiration or inducement, in the same manner the consequences of good or bad deeds done by people long ago have to be faced by them in due course.
So keep doing the good work irrepective of expecting anything in return. Your deeds will decide the fate of the future. The result never be sooner but someday or oneday the volume speaks of themselves.
