Have you ever heard of the phrase “siblings by blood, best friends by choice” ? That’s exactly how we describe ourselves. We’re not just siblings — we’re each other’s built-in companions, forever teammates, and unexpected soulmates in the journey of life.
And perhaps, it’s no coincidence that our last name is COMPANION. Maybe — just maybe — we were named that way for a reason. It’s as if we were meant to live out what it truly means: to be good companions to one another, not just in name, but in love, support, and loyalty.
In this blog post, allow me to introduce each of us and get to know us more.
Nobody's perfect in this world. So our story began like most siblings — chaos, toy disputes, and watching movies together. But somewhere in between the "childish fight" phase and the “I'm sorry” season, something beautiful bloomed: companionship.
We learned to grow together, to fight and forgive, to cheer and challenge, to lean on each other even when words were few. And what we found was this: siblinghood is not just about growing up under the same roof, but about growing into people who choose to show up for one another.
Meet the Companion Siblings - Titles that tells a story
Micah Rujen – The Quiet Creator
Micah is our eldest sister — the most understanding and selfless among us. As the Ate (elder sister), she naturally knows how to manage and guide her younger siblings with both gentleness and quiet authority. She's an introvert, yes, but that doesn’t stop her from expressing her creativity.
She’s talented at turning recyclable materials into beautiful crafts and she has a soft spot for poetry, too. She's one of those people who makes silence feel safe. Comfortable to be around, patient, and hardworking — that's how we describe her. Her presence is calm, but her influence is deep.
Ruffa Jane (Me) – The Dreamer
I’m the second in the sibling line — a mix of calm and energetic depending on who I’m with. Among the four of us, I’d say I’m the ambivert. I usually stay quiet around people I barely know, but once I’m with those I’m comfortable with — like my siblings — I let my energetic side shine.
I’m a writer, debater, a public speaker, Esl Teacher, and more — a lot of my passions revolve around communication and confidence. While my siblings are more into music, arts, and crafts, I thrive in speaking platforms. And yes I take pictures of myself whenever I feel confident with how I look (self-love matters!).
Joannah Jane – The Artistic Entertainer
Joannah is the third among the sibling line and the certified extrovert in our bunch. She's fun, loud in the best way, and can lift the mood of any room. People naturally enjoy her company because she’s full of jokes and lighthearted energy.
She’s a gifted singer — a talent inherited from our father — and has joined many singing contests over the years. But that’s not all. She's also an artist who spends much of her time painting, and she plays the guitar, too. Ironically, despite her vibrant personality, she’s not a fan of taking pictures of herself. But that doesn’t matter — her presence always leaves a mark.
Ruben Jared – The Gentle Listener
Jared is the youngest of the sibling line, and probably the most introverted of us all — introvert pro max, as we jokingly say. He rarely talks to people outside the family, but with us, he’s warm, kind, and deeply present in his own quiet way.
He’s a music lover and prefers the comfort of sound over small talk. Though he's shy around others, he’s a good brother through and through — thoughtful, observant, and always dependable when it counts.
BONUS SIBLING:
Cherry – Sister by Heart, Not by Blood
Cherry isn’t our biological sibling — she’s actually our cousin from our mother’s side — but she’s family in every sense of the word. Since she was 6 years old (her sister was 8), our parents have raised them as their own, alongside their mother.
Their father left when they were young, and not long after, their mother suffered from mental instability. Out of compassion and love, our parents took them in and gave them the care and upbringing they needed.
So yes, Cherry may not carry the Companion name by birth, but by love, loyalty, and years of growing together — she’s one of us. Always will be.
Every family has a story. Ours is written in a kind of moments I found hard to put into words. We may have different personalities, talents, and ways of expressing ourselves — some loud, some quiet, some artistic, some expressive — but at the heart of it all, we're companions in every season of life.
Through the highs and lows, we carry a simple truth: we don’t have to be perfect to be each other’s person.
Being siblings doesn’t just mean sharing a roof or a last name. It means sharing responsibilities, secrets, struggles, silly moments, and silent support. It means growing side by side, even when we grow in different directions. It means knowing someone will always be there — whether you need a laugh, a listener, or just someone to sit with in silence.
Perhaps it’s really no accident that our last name is Companion. Maybe it’s our reminder that we were born not just to exist together, but to journey together — to be each other's built-in best friends, protectors, and cheerleaders.
And if you're reading this, maybe you're part of our story too. 💛
