El día de hoy traigo un post bastante especial, se trata de un evento Geek/Otaku que hubo hace poco en mi ciudad, así que quería compartirles como fue mi experiencia. Además de las imágenes que verán a lo largo del post, al final les dejaré un video con lo mejor del evento, espero lo disfruten tanto como yo.

Today I bring you a very special post, it's about a Geek/Otaku event that took place recently in my city, so I wanted to share with you how was my experience. In addition to the images that you will see throughout the post, at the end I will leave you a video with the best of the event, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

El evento se realizó en la Galería de Arte Nacional, ubicada en la estación Bellas Artes de Caracas. La verdad, era mi primera vez en un evento de este tipo, ya que tenía la impresión de que estos no se solían hacer muy a menudo, y vaya, que equivocado estaba, asistir a esta convención me abrió las puertas a un mundo nuevo, además de que, la entrada fue completamente gratuita. Por supuesto, al ser un evento gratuito, tenía mis sospechas de que seguramente al lugar asistirían muchísimas personas, y no me equivocaba, la entrada estaba completamente llena e incluso dudaba de si habría espacio para todos. Los presentadores, los cuales vestían con cosplays de Harley Quinn, Naruto y Cruella, nos dieron la bienvenida, cortando el lazo de la entrada y dando paso a la gente.

The event was held at the National Art Gallery, located in the Bellas Artes station in Caracas. To tell the truth, it was my first time in an event of this kind, since I had the impression that these were not very often done, and boy, was I wrong, attending this convention opened the doors to a new world, plus, the entrance was completely free. Of course, being a free event, I had my suspicions that surely many people would attend the place, and I was not wrong, the entrance was completely full and I even doubted if there would be room for everyone. The presenters, who were dressed in Harley Quinn, Naruto and Cruella cosplays, welcomed us, cutting the ribbon at the entrance and giving way to the crowd.

Una vez dentro, ya todos los stands estaban preparados, había una gran variedad de artículos para comprar, desde figuras coleccionables, mascaras, accesorios, mangas, comics, camisetas, unos increíbles posters en 3D, y muchas cosas más, las cuales, lamentablemente no pude comprar, ya que no tenía dinero, de hecho, y lo diré sin ningún tipo de vergüenza, disponía solo de 1$, pero por increíble que parezca, me sirvió para conseguir lo más valioso de toda la convención, una sorpresa que les mostraré más adelante.

Once inside, all the stands were ready, there was a great variety of items to buy, from collectible figures, masks, accessories, manga, comics, t-shirts, incredible 3D posters, and many more things, which, unfortunately I could not buy, because I had no money, in fact, and I will say it without any shame, I had only 1$, but incredible as it may seem, it helped me to get the most valuable of the whole convention, a surprise that I will show you later.

Pero claro, más allá de lo material, lo que realmente le da magia a este tipo de eventos es la gente, especialmente los cosplayers, esas personas las cuales admiro mucho, pues invierten su tiempo y dinero para transformarse en nuestros personajes favoritos, y brindarnos esa ilusión de verlos en persona. En la Game Comic me topé con muchos cosplayers de calidad, muchos de ellos incluso profesionales, todos fueron muy amables y jamás me negaron una foto, aunque debo decir, como era mi primera vez, y soy una persona algo introvertida, no pude obtener todas las fotos que quería, prometo hacerlo mejor para la próxima. Aun así, pude estar al lado de personajes como Hawkeye, el legendario Michael Jackson e incluso con Nezuko, mi foto favorita de todas.

But of course, beyond the material, what really gives magic to this kind of events is the people, especially the cosplayers, those people who I admire a lot, because they invest their time and money to transform themselves into our favorite characters, and give us the illusion of seeing them in person. At the Game Comic I met many quality cosplayers, many of them even professionals, all of them were very kind and never denied me a photo, although I must say, as it was my first time, and I am a somewhat introverted person, I could not get all the photos I wanted, I promise to do better for the next one. Even so, I was able to be next to characters like Hawkeye, the legendary Michael Jackson and even with Nezuko, my favorite photo of all.

Las actividades estaban repartidas por todos lados, habían personas tomándose fotos con los cosplayers, otros participando en torneos de videojuegos como Mortal Kombat, Naruto Ninja Storm y Tekken, incluso yo iba a participar en uno de FIFA, pero termino cancelandose, ya que la gente no tenía interés en ese juego. En la parte superior de la Galeria se realizó un karaoke de openings y covers de anime, fue increíble poder escuchar ese tipo de música en público y poder cantarla sin miedo a ser juzgado. Volviendo al piso de abajo, un grupo de personas talentosas competían en un concurso de dibujo. Y finalmente, una pasarela donde pude apreciar todos los cosplays en su máximo esplendor, pero, todavía quedaba una sorpresa...

The activities were spread all over the place, there were people taking pictures with the cosplayers, others participating in video game tournaments like Mortal Kombat, Naruto Ninja Storm and Tekken, even I was going to participate in one of FIFA, but it ended up being cancelled, since people had no interest in that game. In the upper part of the Gallery there was a karaoke of anime openings and covers, it was amazing to be able to listen to that kind of music in public and be able to sing it without fear of being judged. Back downstairs, a group of talented people were competing in a drawing contest. And finally, a catwalk where I could appreciate all the cosplays in their maximum splendor, but, there was still one more surprise...

Ruben León - "The Joker"

Así es, cuando dije que todavía quedaba una sorpresa, me refería a esta, tuve el placer de conocer a uno de los mejores actores de doblaje de Latinoamérica, y por supuesto, de Venezuela, el gran Rubén León, mejor conocido por dar voz al Joker en su versión animada. Rubén dio una interesante charla sobre lo que es incursionar en el mundo del doblaje, como fueron sus comienzos, anécdotas de su carrera, donde nos reveló que fue escogido para ser el Joker casi que por obra del destino, pues un día su risa se filtró hasta el estudio donde se estaba realizando el casting, y a los directivos les gusto tanto, que lo contrataron de inmediato. Además, nos dio una increíble interpretación del personaje en vivo. Y para terminar, ¿recuerdan cuando les dije que con mi dólar pude conseguir lo más valioso del evento?, pues...

That's right, when I said that there was still a surprise, I meant this one, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the best dubbing actors in Latin America, and of course, in Venezuela, the great Ruben Leon, best known for voicing the Joker in his animated version. Ruben gave an interesting talk about what it is like to venture into the world of dubbing, how his beginnings were, anecdotes of his career, where he revealed that he was chosen to be the Joker almost by fate, because one day his laughter leaked to the studio where the casting was being done, and the directors liked him so much that they hired him immediately. In addition, he gave us an incredible live interpretation of the character. And finally, remember when I told you that with my dollar I was able to get the most valuable thing of the event?, well...

Sin duda alguna, la Game Comic fue un evento que jamás olvidaré, acabo de adentrarme en un mundo increíble, y ya tengo mi vista puesta no solo en su segunda edición, que se realizara en el mes de septiembre, sino también en un próximo evento que será en un par de meses, y que por supuesto, les compartiré por aquí. Mientras tanto, y para despedirme, les dejo este video, donde podrán observar mucho más de la Game Comic. Intente subirlo a 3Speak, pero no se si sea por problemas de la plataforma, o mi internet, pero me fue imposible, por lo que opte por subirlo a Youtube.

Without a doubt, the Game Comic was an event that I will never forget, I just got into an incredible world, and I already have my eyes set not only in its second edition, which will be held in September, but also in an upcoming event that will be in a couple of months, and that of course, I will share with you here.
