Hmmm... maybe my Mom's molasses cookies were always soft because we ate it so quickly, usually within six hours? Hmmmm... let me bake a batch on the weekend and see how it turns out. I never thought of that!!!

I'm sure it's just a simple ingredient that she doesn't use that other people do. Who knows. These ones are still soft close to a week later.
