Ceramic and Concrete Look Vase Painting | Converting a Soda Bottle to a Vase | Recycling

Today I want to talk to you about the recycling project. We all drink soda or cola in glass bottles. So what do you do with those bottles? I usually prefer narrow-mouthed bottles so they can root quickly when propagating my plants. So they root very quickly (must try). The most suitable ones are glass cola or soda bottles. The idea to do this came to me while I was thinking about what to do with the bottle of soda I was drinking. Even though I like glass cases, I said why not transform them and turned them into a textured vase with the painting technique I learned from my friend. You can make glass bottles in your homes or old vases that you are bored with looking different with the technique I made. Let's take a closer look at how it's done.

Materials needed

• Paint that adheres to any surface (I used acrylic wood paint)
• Glass bottle or Vase
• Baking soda
• Brush

First of all, I softened and removed the brand labels around the bottle by soaking them in hot water. Then I cleaned them by plugging them in.

I wanted to paint with soft colors, but you can make any colors you want. I wanted to show you the mixtures in case you like the color I painted. I used the colors White - Red - Yellow - Blue.

By adding some red and yellow to the white paint, I achieved a tan-like hue. I actually mixed the paints until it pleased my eye.

Then I added the material to give texture to the paint. My friend made it with baking soda, I didn't have baking soda, instead I used powdered washing soda. In fact, it might even be fine sand. If I do it again I will try it with sand or clods of earth. After adding the powder mixture to the paint, I mixed it well.

I painted the bottle with the paint I prepared. If you add two teaspoons of baking soda, it will be enough. The mixture should have a light paste consistency.

I set the bottle aside to dry and moved on to painting the second bottle.

I decided to paint the other bottle the color of concrete. So I added some blue and white on top of the remaining paint and mixed it until I got the concrete color. Finally, I added the powdered washing soda.

Then I painted the bottle. I set it aside to dry. My bottles dried in a total of 4 hours.

If a second coat of paint is required, you must apply two coats. I painted my light colored bottle a second coat. While painting, I made it rough by gently touching the brush to make the texture more evident.
