I highly recommend you Salomon brand. They make shoes especially for hiking and trekking, I have a pair and I am very happy with them. They are expensive and they are worth the money, if you think that you will be in the forest often then this might be a good option.
If you will be in the mud often then just a plain old rubber pair of boots will keep you dry

I know the brand, I'll have a look, I have another more sturdy pair but I'm very particular with shoes and these one were not that expensive but comfortable, anyway, they have endured too much. I'll probably have to go to a sports store (I've barely been in shopping malls since the pandemics unless you know, shoes break) LOL but I think it might be the only piece of clothing you really need to try on.

Yes, shoes must be tried, unless you take measurements very well. For example the measures for Salomon are quite precise, so you can try.
The comfort is very important for your feet, I hope you get a great pair!
