I've finally got this painting finished the other week. This painting features the Rees Valley in southern New Zealand. This is such an epic view and I have painted it en plein air a few times as well.
I painted this art work on a 30" x 40" Belgian linen stretcher. I am always striving to make my paintings look alive and vibrant as well as organic and natural and so I have held back a little on the detail and focused more on using looser more gestural brush work.

Love the colour shift between the shaded and not shaded areas! Those blues are stunning. Well the entire countryside is stunning but NZ looks like a beautiful place.
