Half way around New Castle Island is Kanaka Bay. This is what it looks like during low tide. Kanaka Bay is named after a murderer nicknamed “Kanaka Pete”, a Hawaiian. Apparently he massacred his entire family, then was hanged for his crimes. As the story goes, he was buried somewheres around this Bay Area. I can confirm, no gravesite anywhere around here that I could see. Maybe it is all just a myth or legend; who knows. Added a bit of eeriness to the adventure! Thanks for stopping by.

Sometimes the story sells better than reality and may attract more tourists! Funny how that works... But if he was hanged he likely would have been buried in an unmarked grave, which is traditionally what is is done with executed killers. That tradition is changing as bodies now get returned to families for burial. But interesting story!
Awesome pictures and a great place to spend the day. I can see why you are excited to head back to the area. It's gorgeous! I've always loved the ocean, and I love being close to it. I would love to live on the beach, but those properties here start at around $2 to $3 million for a two bedroom apartment. Kind of ridiculous!
I hope you had a great weekend!

Maybe when Hive moons we can all grab some seaside properties!
I'm starting to think that the whole "Kanaka Pete" story may be a hoax, but who really knows.
Name a bay after a murderer? He doesn't deserve such a honor
That low tide looks cool, you could have gone forward too in the first picture !
Doesn't really make sense, does it?! Makes me think it is just a bs story.
No camping and no fires! There is a dood chained to the bottom of the lake wearing a goalie mask!
Really? lol
The beauty of Kanaka Bay is something else. That stone looks so beautiful with grass growing on it, standing right in the middle of the water. You have shared an amazing picture.
Definitely it was an adventure. Thanks for looking.
Yhe photos are really beautiful, but learning about Kanaka Bay’s history gives a strange sense of eeriness. this time I love colourful picture.
Today's ghost story lol. Thanks for looking.
It's beautiful, nature looks good in color but it's great in black and white. I liked the sea most and its clear water. It's a clean area because camping and fires are prohibited
Yes, little debris if any around here. Just a beautiful ocean and bay.
Oh yes, I hope tourists enjoy this place. I love traveling to these places
