Not only on POB but Hive in general, you can find hundreds of people who share more photos than text. Some people actually prefer to express themselves through photography.
Maybe they do this because they have a good camera or a great cell phone, and that way they share good photographic content. But, many of these people don't have an extraordinary camera and just want to talk about their day or about some experience they have and show it through their photos.
It's similar to what happens on Instagram or Twitter; a few words and photos to help them express what they are saying. But, there is a question in the air, since POB is not a community focused on photography: Is a few words and a lot of photos are a brain proof?
The project that most illustrates what I'm saying is #pobdaily but, notably, the votes for those who post every day using the tag are much lower than for those who produce content focused on text and some intellectual or funny theme.
I particularly believe that there needs to be creativity and a real desire to be here at Proof of Brain to be daily talking about your day or sharing some experience through photos and I believe that this should be more valued.
It's nice to see well-elaborated publications talking about complex topics that inform and educate us, but it's also nice to see light posts with photos that illustrate and share cultures different and distant from mine.
What is your opinion about this?
There ought to be software forks of front-ends that work to show photos in a way that people don't have to open individual posts. The photos could just be in one unified virtual reel.
What a great idea! I believe this would be ideal, and would make people who feel more comfortable posting photos was more valued. @leprechaun
I never thought of this method.
It would be cool to flip through photos from the thumbnail.
Hive needs to serve as a social media network and part of that is pictures. People like simple things.
Do all of the photos we post have to be verified on the blockchain? If not then the user would have a lot quicker interface as well.
No. The blockchain doesn't verify photos in your posts even exist. And the photos don't get stored on the blockchain. But various users run servers that keep your photos at their expense. There is no incentive mechanism on the blockchain for this, unfortunately. Proof of brain stores it's images at images.ecency.com. I think the witness account is @ecency or @gtg. I'm not sure.
@good-karma
Yes @leprechaun,
It wouldn't make sense for the blockchain to store photos. Thank you @good-karma and @ecency.
With cooperation we could make a fast and fun interface like instagram but it hasn't been done yet.
That's it. I agree with you.
People like simple things, agree Post photos and shares, there is d.buzz but I do not really like the front end
A picture is worth a thousand words. I love the photography I see here on ProofofBrain.io … it’s the best anywhere. Almost as good as https://Blurt.blog
i also buy the idea because a lot of people love what they can view, like watching than even reading so this will help very well and it will catch the attention of more people
I don't take the phrase 'proof of brain' seriously, I think it's just a name, the important thing is that every type of content is accepted here.
Secondly, I think people should be free to post whatever they want as long as they're not getting over rewarded for low quality posts.
Well, many people love to share everything as pictures which is a great way off if that picture has a meaning behind it and not just any random picture about their daily life which might not add anything to the viewer/reader, that's at least my opinion. But I believe more meaningful pictures is way better than text.
I guess that, at least for me, it's more a question of whether or not any post adds value. A great photo of something can definitely add value. A slightly out-of-focus picture of a bowl of chips posted six times from different angles does NOT — IMHO — add value; it more reeks of an attempt to "reward harvest."
Personally, I don't use Instagram much because I find it pretty boring... I want to know the story behind a photo, not just see the photo.
=^..^=
I totally agree with you! It can't just be a photo, there must be a context, but I don't believe that context needs to be an article. And I believe that Proof of Brain has space to value and support the idea that photos can indeed be good content. Of course, you would have to be careful with spam, but still, I find something interesting to think about.
Hey @aiuna, a good question you raise here.
One of HIVE/POB's maxims is not to censor. However, I think posting just photo without any context is not a very dedicated or quality thing to do and I particularly very little vote on those posts. I follow a photography community on Hive and there are users who show some awesome photos but behind them there is a story and they explain them and they are not just two words, to say the least.
We all learn in different ways, and to take a good photo you need skills, a good eye and obviously a good lens, but I think to write a piece of writing and capture ideas with letters, you need a little more effort...and brains.

I wholeheartedly agree. I do like that on POB you can find a wide variety of content but essentially I am looking for written content that feeds my soul, challenges my intellect, makes me laugh, draws me to engage, when I surf around POB/Hive/Leo. I do occasionally upvote pictorial submissions but this is more when they relate to someone sharing insights about their day/life/culture in a part of the world that I am unfamiliar with and I feel that I have gained a wonderful glimpse into their personal life that helps me to understand diversity better. These posts are usually a good balance of photos and descriptive written content alongside them. To me POB is a blogging community first and foremost and just as recently as today, I have come across posts that are a single photo with a sentence or two and the photo is really random as are the words accompanying it. I just can't bring myself to give them any credit whatsoever. It is clear even from the script that the person literally woke up rolled over and took a photo and said as much. Not particularly inspiring or requiring any stretch of the intellect or imagination. I appreciate that there are probably some really good photography posts out there, I just don't tend to seek them out myself, even though I love good photography. I come to POB primarily for the written word. If I did come across great photographic content, I still don't think I would necessarily upvote it unless it had a great story to accompany it and provide me with context and understanding of it's value to the photographer.
Exactly. I visit the entire web and POB is where I stay the longest because I find more content to read, learn, and share. I have found many coincidences of other users with my point of view and there is debate, and that is stimulating.
I appreciate the photographs, because it is an art and I like art, but the thought attracts me and is addictive.
It takes brains to decide which photos to post. Consider @thestickupboys who post cool gifs they made for millions of fans. Those are definitely worth an upvote.
Some pictures speak a story and some pictures make melaugh. Some pictures are worth a thousand words and some are not. I don't know exactly what algorythm to use, but It should be possible to judge objectively whether a picture is spam or content.
It is definitely possible to differentiate! And I believe that having this space for posts with more photographs would make POB just become more inclusive.
Why should photography be voted any less than any other creation. You be the judge with your vote if it does it for you. I think a great photo with few or no words should be worth more than a post that doesnt make much sense it a lot of words. Reward great creativity no matter the package. It still takes a lot of work to archive photos, store them, and upload them.

I remember a project by the "deceased" Steem that was focused on being the "instagram of the crypts", but I don't think it ever developed, or died, whatever. The fact is that I consider these posts only with pictures and a small phrase usually of low value really. I think they infest the network here because of the ease it is for many who don't have the ability to write with a certain ease to express themselves, but it also serves as a natural filter, few whales will vote for a random photo. Naturally this is different from the contests that exist in the hive photography communities, so it's another story right. I think there is a lack of engagement in producing quality content, this is and will always be a problem. But profit itself is a filter, people who want to reach new stages of reward need to be dedicated.
