RE: Equanimity - POB-WOTW #007

Source of plagiarism

Plagiarism is the copying & pasting of others' work without giving credit to the original author or artist. Plagiarized posts are considered fraud and violate the intellectual property rights of the original creator.

Fraud is discouraged by the community and may result in the account being Blacklisted.

Clearly, your methods are better than mine. Would you mind sending a discord link? I'd love to see how you do your searches. I started curating posts last week and didn't find evidence of plagiarism. My methods are obviously faulty. I could use the guidance.

Hi.
We search plagiarism manually using search engines.
Plagiarism checker tools are usually completely useless.
No professional investigation uses such tools.
You just need to take parts of texts and meticulously perform searches using search engines.
Sometimes you find it right away. Other times we need to do much more work as scammers tend to spin the content or use google translation from other languages.

That you manually check for plagiarism is impressive given the volume of information you must have to process. I will implement your methodology in this week's POB-WOTW curation as a verification method.

I can see the value in your methodology, but I'm used to processing large volumes of data in my IRL job. I believe an extent of curation has to be done automatically with manual verification. Your work in this case is textbook, however. I have the link to your discord. I hope you don't mind the occasional questions in the near future about your processes.

Thank you very much for responding. I really appreciate it.

We only check a tiny percentage of all the content that is posted. We do our own investigations and process the reports from the community. We also have a well-defined scope of what we consider an abuse of the ecosystem.
The abuse (all types of plagiarism, copypasta spam-farming, identity theft/deception, comment farming, etc) is pervading. We have estimated that at least half of all content published daily is some sort of plagiarism.

Sure, feel welcome to ask any questions in our Discord. There are only a few of us but we try to respond when we can.

Thank you very much. I look forward to the interaction!

The original article was altered. You found the source, but you did not find plagiarism, look at the way I rearranged the title into the first line of the article.

This is what the original article said,

Equanimity basically means having an even-minded emotional approach to things.
So, if you see chocolate because you are a chocolate addict – ‘I want this!’ is one side of it, and the other side is if someone gets it before you do – ‘That’s not fear!’ Equanimity sorts of sits between these.

This is what my article said,

Equanimity basically means having an even-minded emotional approach to things. What is Equanimity? So, if you see chocolate, because you're a chocolate addict, "I want this!" is one side of it, and the other side is, if somebody gets it before you do, "That's not fair!" Equanimity sort of sits between these.

Thats not copied, that's modified.

I had heard things about Hive Watchers, but now I can see for myself how lazy the eyes are of whoever thought this was plagiarism.

uhh, that's copied. adding to a copy doesn't stop it from being a copy.

and it's a portion of a series of talks on Buddhism and its concepts by Dr Chönyi Taylor. here's the equanimity bit:

This is fiction, it is not nessisary to quote the author.

you added a total of three words to someone else's quote. that's not fiction. that's plagiarism.

You clearly don't understand what you're talking about then, the original article is fiction.

You do not need to source fictional copy.

I understand what you're saying, honestly.

The blockchain is unforgiving regarding similarities between what someone posts and what already exists on the net, especially if there are no references to outside sources. The assumption is that when someone posts their own work, it is of their own creation and without direct influence from outside sources. So, if someone's work appears similar to an outside source, downvotes can occur.

I don't fight the community's position on this because I've seen the ramifications of it IRL. However, nothing is set in stone until the payout. Votes, at least mine, can be reversed.

maybe there is a similarity in my imagination, we humans also have seven forms. in common, maybe it's just a mere fikti, I'm sorry if I feel it is wrong by you
