We all grow into a family, community and language. Our first knowledge and experiences are shaped by the above encounters. And most times our world view is in accordance with what we were been taught by our parents and communities. And those things been taught are according to the values and tradition of the community.
There are times that a whole community help in misdirecting their younger ones intentionally, probably because it is the only survival strategy for them.
The issue of internet fraudster is so pronounced in my country that many young person are misdirected to think that there is no evil in indulging in such act, because the society have so condone these behaviors from young person and even celebrate them. The misdirection is displayed when parents refuse to question the source of their children money when they fully know the children have no work doing.
First, by having a milder name for their criminal activities. Fraudsters are called yahoo boys. Some parents even say yahoo is not stealing. Their words becomes misleading.
The young persons are not only gullible, but their ears are itching to hear words that support their evil acts. They are even more excited when they hear words like " yahoo business is simply collecting back what was stolen from their grandfathers by the colonial masters". These misdirection start right from the families not reprimanding their children from getting money through dubious means and then the society from condoning such behaviors and even celebrating them.
The message is for us to talk to our children and the young ones around to stay away from fraudulent as this is not the best option in life.
Most parents are not helping issues as they are not passing the best messages to them.
Our children are our pride and we should handle them by telling them the trust about life instead of misdirecting them
