Yep, feels safer without anyone there but a malfunction could happen at any time?

GPS records a starting position and return to hom tries to hit that spot. You can interrupt the autopilot at any point which is good.

Range is supposed to be 10km. I can't see the thing 500m away so there is no way I'll be testing that out!

Lol. 10km is quite a distance and don't blame you. Would be cool to have a monitor next to you with live feed and then you could sit and not have to worry looking for it. This is my kind of hobby and one day will get one as it looks like loads of fun. Better than flying a kite.

You attach your phone to the controller so can always see what it sees. Still, I don't like having it out of sight yet and 10km is just insane!

Unlike a kite, 0 wind is preferable! I could hear it today in the wind, fighting to keep it's position, pretty cool.

I doubt you would have as much freedom in the UK as you have now as I know they have strict rules and licenses are needed. Funny enough I know a weed farm looking for drone pilots as part of their security system. I think you will master this quite quickly and become quite a decent pilot. Looks like you just need time behind the controls to get the skills and confidence.

As it's 249g there are no real regulations here apart from the standard don't fly near airports. There's a decent app that tells you where is good, and the drone app will also tell you if you are in a bad location.

It's not that hard to fly, just tough to master and get some decent shots.

That sounds great as the app will warn you then. You are doing well already and will be good to see how good these videos are in a years time.
