WELCOME π FUNGI LOVERS
This article for @ewkawβs Fungi Friday is about a massive surprise i got the other day on a walk when masses of little mushrooms showed up along the way begging to be shot and blogged about. Itβs the Fairy Inkcap who surprised me by showing up in such masses what seems to be quiet normal for that kind of mushroom.

A little research about the Fairy Inkcap mushroom
The Fairy Inkcap (Coprinellus disseminatus) is a tiny mushroom that grows in large clusters on rotting wood, especially around decaying tree stumps. Unlike some inkcap mushrooms, it doesnβt dissolve into black ink as it ages. Its small, bell-shaped caps are pale gray or beige with fine grooves running from the center to the edge. This mushroom is found in many parts of the world, in both temperate and tropical regions. It helps break down dead wood, playing an important role in recycling nutrients in forests. While itβs not known to be poisonous, itβs too small and fragile to be useful as food. Scientists placed it in the Coprinellus genus after DNA studies showed it was different from other inkcap mushrooms.

Look at these masses of little mushrooms. Can you hear them shouting: βShoot and write, shoot and write, shoot and write!β π
πππ
Here you can see the tree stump rising in the background at which i found the little ones. I had to go really deep down on my knees for those shots.
πππ
Another one of the big families who were gathering around that tree stump.
πππ
A close up of a smaller family at the foot of the tree stump.
πππ
The family you saw before from above, but this time shot on βeye levelβ.
πππ
Look how tight they grow. I like to get up close with mushrooms to see more of the details they have to offer.

FUNGI FACTS:
Genetic diversity - The diversity of fungi is enormous. For example, Aspergillus nidulans (produces penicillins) is as genetically different from Penicil-lium roqueforti (ripens blue cheese) as humans are from fish. And around 2000 new species are classified every year.
