Mastering Farming Tales | How to Optimize Your Farm

Today I would like to show you this guide that will be useful to study some of the different strategies that can be adopted to optimize your farm on Farming Tales and make it more efficient.

If you have followed my previous post and are wondering "how can I improve my farm without having to invest further WAX?" I will surprise you by telling you that there are countless ways to do it without having to spend more money, and now we will see them together.

Upgrading Silo & Water tower

One of the first recommended improvements to make is certainly the one concerning the Silo and Water tower. These two structures are essential for the sustenance and optimization of your farm as having a high rarity of these NFTs means minimizing the production costs of your animals and gardens. Therefore, it is advisable to try to have the maximum rarity available for these two NFTs from the beginning.

Obviously, they can be purchased from secondary markets such as Atomichub, but let's see how they can be upgraded starting from a common rarity and without spending WAX.

Initially, in the farm, the two common structures are already available for free, so to have the related NFT to upgrade, we should first set aside some SEST to buy a higher rarity Silo and Water Tower from the game's internal marketplace.

To obtain SEST, you will obviously have to sell the products of your farm. You can choose to refine them in New Waxchester and then sell them in the game in exchange for SEST or create product chests to sell on Atomichub for WAX. You can then convert the WAX to SEST through Alcor exchange or use the WAX to buy NFTs on the market.

To have the product chests to sell, you will need wood that can be obtained either through the Lumberjack or by purchasing it directly from AH. So if you do not own the Lumberjack and do not want to spend WAX on wood, the only option remaining is to refine the products and sell them for SEST, which you can do inside the barn in your game farm.

I advise you to do all the maths to choose the most convenient path before proceeding. Calculate how many SEST you would get from selling refined products in the game and how many from selling on AH. Also, keep in mind that selling on AH involves paying fees (9%) and the sale is not always immediate, it may take hours or days to find a buyer.

Once you have obtained enough SEST, you just need to go to the game's internal marketplace near the house and spend the SEST in exchange for the desired NFTs. If you already have enough SEST to buy the epic-level Silo and Water Tower, congratulations, you have already achieved the maximum improvement available for these structures. If, on the other hand, you have taken the rare NFTs, there is another step that can be used to upgrade these structures from rare to epic.

It is good to know that in New Waxchester, there is a structure called "Voucher Market" where you can exchange the basic products of your farm for common or rare vouchers that can be used with the blending function to enhance your NFTs.
There are two types of vouchers, but they can be obtained by following different blending recipes that include all the basic game products. This is very useful as it makes it possible for all players to have these vouchers without the need to own different animals.

On the Neftyblocks website, you can view and complete blending recipes to obtain improved NFTs. To obtain an epic Silo, for example, you need to blend 1 rare Silo with 6 rare Vouchers, and to get an epic Water Tower, you need to blend 1 rare Water Tower with 6 rare Vouchers. Upgraded NFTs obtained through blending will be available immediately for staking on your farm. For a detailed overview of the improvements that these NFTs bring, here's a table with all NFT's rarities and related parameters.

Upgrading Barn

The Barn is where your products are stored, and having a larger and more spacious Barn makes your farm more efficient. This building is responsible for storing your products in the game and having more space allows you to have more products available for crafting and empty the Barn less frequently, which saves wood. Additionally, if you want to buy certain Vouchers, you need a lot of space to hold all the products required to purchase them. Some Vouchers cost more than 1000 products, which is the maximum that can be contained in an epic Barn.

The upgrading mechanism for the Barn is slightly different from that of the other structures. Initially, you will have a free common-level Barn that can hold up to 100 products. You can then upgrade to a rare Barn without having to buy it from the AH by completing the weekly rare Barn Quest, which allows you to trade a set of products for the Barn NFT. You can complete this mission at the Trader's structure in New Waxchester.

After obtaining the rare Barn, you can upgrade to the epic Barn through Neftyblocks, as seen earlier. To get this upgrade, you need 1 rare Barn + 6 rare Vouchers. Once blending is complete, you will receive an epic Barn ready for staking.
As the epic Barn is still limited, a higher level has recently been added, which increases its internal space even more, bringing it to 1500 slots. This legendary Barn can always be obtained through blending on Neftyblocks, and there are 2 options for this: the first is to use 3 rare Barns + 2 rare vouchers, and the second is to use 2 Epic Barns. Once the blend is completed, you will obtain a level 1 legendary Barn that is more than sufficient for most players to manage their farm, but for more avid players, there is another way to increase the space in your Barn.

Every month, there will be a week where you can obtain the Barn Voucher in exchange for certain products at the Voucher Market. This voucher will then allow you to upgrade your legendary Barn level through blending on Neftyblocks. Currently, the Whitepaper plans for 15 levels of the Barn with a maximum capacity of 5000 products. Of course, these upgrades will be unlocked monthly, but 1 Barn voucher will always be used to move from one level to the next.

Be very careful, upgrading your Barn involves the automatic unstaking of the NFT, which can result in the loss of stored products. It is therefore a good idea to empty your Barn to at least 100 products before performing the upgrade.

Upgrading Animals

A simple way to increase the efficiency of your farm is through animal upgrades. Thanks to blending, it is possible to obtain rarer animals that greatly reduce production costs and allow you to collect products less frequently. Animal blending is always done through Neftyblocks, following the recipes of the animal that interests you. As you will notice, only rare, epic, or legendary animals can be obtained in this way, because to obtain common animals directly from the game, you must complete the relative Tasks that can be found at the Trader, which give you common animals in exchange for their basic products.

There are various animal blending options available to allow you to choose the most convenient option for you. You can decide to use 1 animal + many common vouchers if you prefer to maintain the number of animals you own, or use more animals and fewer vouchers when you may have space issues on your farm.

Another advantage of animal blending is that there is a small chance (2%) of obtaining an NFT of the corresponding animal with a higher rarity than expected. With a little bit of luck, you can have an even more efficient farm than expected.

Upgrading Gardens

Improving gardens involves increasing the available slots within them, allowing you to plant up to 3 seeds per garden simultaneously. This upgrade is particularly useful when space is limited and you can no longer add gardens to your farm. There is no difference in seed production costs or harvest time, but If your farm is full, increasing the level of your gardens through blending will be very useful. You will have several recipes to follow, including 1 garden + many common/rare vouchers or more gardens and fewer vouchers and you can get rare or epic gardens.
As with animals, to obtain common gardens from the game, you can complete the relative Trader Quest, which requires 2 harvested seeds of all types and 3 blueberry and hops seeds in exchange for 1 common garden.

Upgrading Animal Buildings

The structures where animals are placed can also be upgraded, and a rarer structure means that you can increase the number of animals that can be stacked inside, thus increasing the available space on your farm.
As previously mentioned, blending is also used here, allowing players to obtain rare or epic structures, while common ones can be purchased in SEST from the internal marketplace.

One small difference compared to other blends is that combinations of animals + vouchers can be used here. For example, to obtain a rare chicken coop, there are 3 available recipes:

1 common coop + 8 common vouchers
4 common hens + 4 common vouchers
2 common coops + 2 common vouchers

Thanks to all these possibilities, the game economy remains very dynamic, creating different needs and opportunities in the market. In my opinion, this is one of the strengths of Farming Tales.

Trading NFTs

Another way to obtain useful NFTs for optimizing your farm could be through direct trading with other players. Given the hundreds of possibilities within the game, it's not difficult to find someone willing to trade animals, buildings, vouchers, gardens, or products for other similar NFTs. Additionally, there is a very useful function on Atomichub for making direct NFT trades with other users without fees and securely.
To find players interested in trades, I suggest looking in the "trade" section on the official Farming Tales Discord channel.

Discord Auction

Regular auctions are also held on the Discord channel, allowing verified players to obtain various game NFTs in exchange for SEST. Is it possible to find very useful NFTs for just a few SEST, which can be very helpful in achieving your goals. Remember that you must have the SEST deposited in your personal wallet and link your wallet address to your Discord account through the appropriate bot to participate in the auction.
