While CME/EMP in and of itself is perhaps not highly likely, I don't think prepping for it is a wholly wasted exercise. Should a global conflict occur (and this IS a feasible risk in the next decade) the impact on the majority of people would be highly disrupted supply chains and grid collapse (electricity & comms, then water) due to sabotage, whether by hacking or the old fashioned way. A high-altitude nuclear detonation with an associated EMP is also not wholly out of the realm of possibility if we were in a global conflict.

Heard a rumor today that Pepe Escobar claimed Russia shot down an Israeli F-35 over Jordan that was headed to Iran to detonate a nuke to create an EMP and take out their electrical grid. Odd that you mention it today. I'm a big fan of fresh black pepper.
