Hello, dear friends!, I'm really entice of the week's prompt topic presented by the community, I sincerely acknowledge that and due to my experience, I can't wave out.
- Well Have you ever at any point booked a ride online, so much expecting a smooth journey, only for the things to take an unexpected turn? Probably may be that the driver canceled at the last minute, or the route got so confusing, or the trip didn’t go as planned at all. The Online ride services like the Bolt, Uber, and others have at least made transportation easier, but sometimes, they as well come with surprises!
Let now me share with you all a night I won’t easily forget. A one that taught me how to plans may not and sometimes don’t always go the way we expected.
A Fun Picnic Turned Late-Night Trouble |
---|
It was indeed a very special day in February when we the class of Chemistry 020 planned a picnic hangout at Carabana Resort in Ifiayong Uruan LGA. We safely arrived in the evening, really excited for a night of fun. The resort was so lively and fun as we enjoyed different activities like games, swimming, dancing and great conversations. Everything was really going perfectly.
But soon, the time flew by. Before we knew it, it was already passed 11 PM, and we do needed to return to Uyo. That’s when our real and toughest challenge began.
Struggling to Find a Ride |
---|
- Since there were no other public vehicles still moving around or available that late hour, we then turned to the Bolt, really hoping for a ride back. One by one, we did searched for a driver, but guys they was no one available. Every of the location we tried showed the same frustrating message—"No drivers nearby" to us.
At that very moment is when we realized we were so stranded. It was really dark, and we had no other way to get home. Everyone felt stuck and really unsure of what to do next.
A Last-Minute Plan: Hotel for the Night
Then with no other choice for us, we decided to try find a hotel for the night. The popular and well-known Ibom Icon Hotel was nearby to us, but "nope" it was far far too expensive for us because it's a Five Star ✨ Hotel and we're just students.
So Instead, we then look around and found a more affordable hotel, though it had only three rooms available as of that hour. We were many though, but we had to help ourselves by trying to share and manage until morning. It wasn’t the most comfortable night though to many, but at least we were all safe.
- By the early hours in the morning, after checking out, we as family finally found a public transport option back to Uyo. Not that Surprising, though it was even cheaper than the Bolt ride we had originally planned for!
Lessons Learned |

That very experience really taught me important things in life:
To Always have a good backup plan when traveling at night. Definitely not every place has many drivers available, especially late at night hours. So in cases like this, the backu plans will help.
