Balancing communication

Human beings are social beings, and no matter how hard we try to stay alone, we cannot completely avoid communication with people. Communication with people is very necessary because it makes us feel among and also recognized in the community. Even at the workplace, there is a way someone could stay off from people, and it would become so bad that it gives a wrong impression of the person. The same thing goes for the general way we handle communication, both online chats, calls, and face-to-face communication.

As for me, I would not say I am a 24-hour busy person who does not have time to chat and call people because of either my work life or my "me time." No, I am very much available for communication in all forms as I can handle, but there are times, especially during my resting time such as sleeping hours, when I no longer attend to any messages or calls. Sometimes, I can turn off my phone in order not to receive calls or messages. I was doing this until I was queried by a lot of people, especially my dad, and that was when I started leaving my phone on during sleeping hours, but I either shift the phone far away or put it on silent.

As for now, my kind of work does not deprive me of staying with my phone during work hours. Although I do stay with my phone all through, I do not get to check it for messages always; it is only calls that pull me to the phone during working hours. So, I stay connected too during work. I respond to chats during my leisure periods and pick up calls anytime they come because, most times, I get called by other staff or bigger bosses within the area.

For face-to-face communication with people, both in my workplace and with people in my area, I do that but not at great length because, for work, time for that is very much limited. Whenever I get home, time is limited too because I have to attend to my needs, especially preparing food and checking on my various online activities such as trading, airdrops, and blogging. I just get a little bit chatty with neighbors, and the rest of the time is spent being with my phone.

And then, whenever it is deep into the night, I push my phone away to have an undisturbed sleep.

Thanks!

I’m glad you no more turn your phone off when you’re sleeping. You never know which of your loved ones may be in trouble and would need you at that point in time.
