Hello, friends! Happy Saturday!
I hope your morning coffee was excellent!
I have two stories to tell about these objects.
The metal spoon was a gift from my mother-in-law to my daughter when she turned eight months old. It was a spotaneous gift. She taught me with that spoon the way she used to give her own babies soups, many years ago. Then she put the spoon in the stroller. My daughter ate soups with it until it was too small a spoon. To this day, we still use it regularly to sweeten coffee. When I use it, I remember my mother-in-law, who adored her children and grandchildren. She was a good person.
The wooden spoon was a gift from an extraordinary friend when she went to live in Spain for a few years. When she gave it to me, the wood was the same color as the wood of the table, today it is very dark from the many coffees it has sweetened. I was very happy when she returned. Every time I use this spoon, I remember her and, many times, it all ends up in a couple of whatsApps and a date to have a coffee and update gossip. She is a very good friend, whom I love enormously.
By the way, the stain on the wood of the table is from the many coffees I have spilled there half asleep! hahaha....

Wooo! How many stories your spoons have to sweeten the coffee. Knowing these things gives me so much joy 😊 as I feel like you just invited me for a coffee to tell me. Have a week full of good coffee.

Of course we will have coffee. Just as my little spoons evoke stories, you may remember them when you sweeten your coffee, then you can be sure I'll be wishing you joy. Cheers!

They say that mixing coffee with a wooden spoon is more delicious and healthy. But when those spoons have history they are even more special, always take care and value them.

Hi! Thanks for reading my comment. I don't know if it is healthier, what I do believe is that remembering loved people or the positive things left by anyone in our life feels good, improves the mood and, with the morning coffee, we start the day with a kind emotional climate.
Best regards, may your coffees today be great!

The importance we give to details comes from our heart and coffee is a connection to that.

Excellently said! I couldn't agree more!

You share some lovely stories about spoons. Many items in our kitchen have stories to tell. At home we also use a wooden spoon to add sugar to coffee.

I leave you a cup of coffee.☕

Hi, @rinconpoetico7!
Thanks for reading and for the steaming cup of coffee.
Stories and cooking make an inseparable pair in every home. Cooking and reminiscing, cooking and remembering, making a cup of coffee and thinking.... I think it's a common and palcentric experience most of the time.
The kitchen is a great place for stories, of course it is!

It’s great that you keep such a precious gifts and use them to brew your coffee with. I don’t think that I own anything so meaningful like your spoons. Thanks for meeting us with them!

Thank you for your kind words!
It is true that the sentimental memory that objects hold makes them more valuable.
I think some of that encourages our desire to keep them as treasures even if their material value is little. Time can do that operation: some object you keep from your childhood... Like Mr. Tootles' marbles in the movie Peter Pan.
In one of these community conversations, someone put his mom's coffee mug,
Someone else a coffee set that was a wedding gift... All of them were chests of memories and evocation of beloved feelings. Their contemplation is a small gift every time.

Happy coffees,@mdosev.

Most of the time people keep their most precious items away, to keep them shiny and new, but putting them in use is maybe a wiser option. You can use them with care and be sure that they will last long time, like your wooden spoon!

I agree. Even if they get a little damaged, the scratches, the little marks of use are testimony to life passing by. That is wonderful!
Hugs!

... from the many coffees it has sweetened...

maybe the spoon remember her side of this story too... nice reading it was!! 🐈

How nice to be able to remember the people we love through certain objects and even more so to make them present in every coffee ☕.

It is like this. And I think we should make ourselves aware of those stories. It's comforting.
Happy coffees!

My paraphernalia usually consists of my coffee grinders, the bottomless portafilter for the espresso machine and of course the coffee scale.

The manual grinder is one of my all time favorites! I love its industrial looks and the consistent workflow. It os quite practical too which means I find it dead easy to carry woth me on my family trips.

The bottomless portafilter is something brilliant too. It was the reason why my home brewed espresso became so much better! Thick and full bodied!

Finally… every coffee bean, before jumping in any of the coffee grinders, pases through the coffee brewing scale.

It comes from Japan, measures within 0,1 grams accuracy and has a built in timer for brewing your favorite coffee.

These are the tools that I use daily in my coffee brewing activities.

I'd love to join you - hope to have in my posession such a great manual grinder one day too. just postpone everytime this purchase... 😛

It is in the relatively cheap side… I remember it cost me about $50 and it was one of the most anticipated deliveries!

...and it was one of the most anticipated deliveries!

I can guess!! no grind - nothing to brew xD besides that, this gives you the total control under the grind grade and a field for experiments. tho i cant talk about the 'cheap side' - for example, Comandante C40 costs up to 33,000 roubles here ~ $360, which is way too much for me.

Do you have a Timemore Slim (judging by the photo)?.. The price for this model here is doubled ($100).

It is timemore C2 as I can remember! Comandante are way too expensive!

Wow, this is sensational, to have these utensils to prepare the daily coffee is a privilege. Congratulations 👏🏼👏🏼

Preparing coffee at home has always been a special activity! I wish I have some more time to involve into my coffee brewing!

I realize that preparing your coffee at home is quite an art. I congratulate you for this.

For years we prepared coffee using a cloth strainer, but since the greca came into our lives it has been something wonderful, it is a practical and very easy to use utensil. It does not alter the flavor of the coffee at all, as long as it is of good quality. I can say that this utensil is here to stay in our home. It is very durable, and the few times it has been damaged, we do everything possible to buy a new one because we really miss its presence. I love my greca coffee maker. 😊☕

This type of coffee maker and I are not friends 🤭🤭 I have already told other times that when I used it for the first time I added the coffee in the place where the coffee filters. It ended up all in disaster 😅.

You have your greca very well taken care of. Thanks for sharing. Happy week full of good coffee.

I imagine the mess 🤦🏻‍♀️😄 Once you learn how to use it they become super handy. It's my favorite, it's been with me for several years and I try to keep it. Cheers ☕

Those classical mokkas (designed by Bialetty in 1930-es) are the Top! I have one myself, but it is newly-made and (sadly) have painting all over it, doesnt look as cool as yours. 😎 have a Hive !PIZZA for your mokka 🍕

Wao already almost 100 years of its creation 🎉 wonderful idea of the creator 👏🏼👏🏼 I have seen that there are new models of greca coffee makers in a variety of colors, I do not know if it is the same quality. Mine has been with me for more than 10 years. For me it is a jewel that I enjoy every day. ☕

My daughter's godmother @iol-art, knowing so well about my love for coffee brewing, one day made me such a gift. (I still hope to lure her to the Hive someday). She is a wonderful person and a great artist, real 'golden hands' - and also a big fan of coffee, we periodically meet as a family to eat pastries and accompanied it with numerous cups of coffee. Many the best moments of our lives went together...

For the scale and comparison: a coffee spoon next to a regular spoon. It is distinguished by a long handle, and of course by its material: brass.

Another little thingie you see in the frame, you may consider a bit of paraphernalia... I decided to show it tho, actually, it has nothing to do with coffee. (As the guide say, our community is not totally about coffee, we also go after the tea, right?..) May I tease you and ask to make your guesses what it is?.. The hint is, this has something to do with the tea.

$

My coffee spoon turned out not to be exclusive to this thread, hehe (waving hands to @adncabrera) 😜 but perhaps the following item will be: 'coasters' carved from cherry wood. If you think these are beer coasters, you are deeply mistaken!

This is certainly not something special; many folks probably have smth similar in their household. It's all about implementation. These small circles won't fit a saucepan or a frying pan, but go exceptionally well with a bottom of my jezzwa. When I remove the finished coffee from the stove, I put jezzwa not on the table, but on this piece of wood. Excess? Possibly. Paraphernalia? Certainly! kind of.

All these items are so vintage and look cool! I like the coasters and the background they create for these spoons!

Huh, they look vintage and thats what I love about using them too. But thats just a look; I guess they are pretty ordinary newly-made. The only real vintage stuff I have is the massive brass mortar - it dates back to the beginning of XX century; and a door handle, that I obtained at a flea market (it has a marking of '1905' and again, is a very massive brass thingie... now they simply do not produce stuff like that anymore, lol).
Lets share some !PIZZA - this week prompt was really pretty enjoyable. 😎

Everything looks so antique and well cared for. It would really be a luxury to have a cup of coffee prepared with these utensils and with all the care in the world. Loved it 😊 thanks for sharing and have a great coffee week.

Thank you for kind words. Always love to share my cup of coffee / creams / jezzwa visuals ☘️ let me send a slice of Hive !PIZZA your way 🍕

Thank you very much 😊🍕

Coasters carved in cherry wood, wao I liked that, coasters are necessary, especially not to stain table surfaces. Regards

Grazie! I like wood much more than plastic, especially the vintage one, because it can age in such beautiful way.
!LUV and !PIZZA your way. 🥰

Excellent Sunday conversation coffee lovers.

Today we are asked what we like most about a coffee item. I must say that I have several items that I like and each one has its own reason. Today I have chosen to talk about this strainer, which has been in the family for a long time. I like it a lot because it does a wonderful job of straining coffee.

I have had coffee makers and other items for brewing coffee, but the reality is that they do not come out with the flavor that the wooden strainer gives it, maybe it is just something subjective, but it still works excellently for me, in spite of the years.😋

I invite you to leave your comments on the question of the weekly conversation.

I wish you all an excellent start of the week with lots of coffee.☕

IMG_20240915_231359.jpg

Well, I think the flavor is given by the cloth strainer, our grandparents invented great utensils to facilitate the daily coffee brewing. That deserves a round of applause 👏🏼👏🏼

Sometimes the archaic items work better than modern ones… and they remember a lot of stories. If they had the ability to speak this would be the ultimate novel.

Thats the most paraphernalious paraphernalia indeed (in the yet promulgated list) )))))

Hmmm.... I love this word: paraphernalia! tho I never use it myself. And I do use all the stuff I have, I think nothing keeps dust. I should think more about this prompt, feel hooked about it! 🙃 (and looking forward to see comments on this, hehe!)

I love that word too. In Spanish it has a beautiful soinority “parafernalia”.
It is not commonly used in my language either. This word awakens my imagination, when someone uses it, my feeling is that someone has many things, uses many utensils, gadgets, to do something. Indeed, from what I have been able to learn in the community, coffee lovers tend to be collectors of paraphernalia. I have few things (although I would love to have lots of coffee pots and grinders) and almost all of them have a functional or sentimental reason.

For a few days now I have been buying things to decorate my workshop. Of course a compact coffee maker was a must.

I found online an offer for a compact coffee maker and I thought it was great for 10$.

InShot_20240915_121818996~2.jpg

I find that because of how compact it is, the coffee maker fits perfectly into the space in my workshop, as it is a small room and is full of materials everywhere.

It holds 6 cups and keeps the coffee hot.

IMG_20240912_193853~2.jpg

I'm happy to have this little coffee maker in my workshop because every time I'm working I'll be able to have a fresh, hot coffee within reach.

IMG_20240912_193915~2.jpg

P.S. Of course my china cups I bought 11 years ago when I moved in with my boyfriend who is now my husband and father of my children. It has a lot of sentimental value to me and I wouldn't trade it for any of them.

10$? 6 cups of coffee? this is what I call THE BARGAIN. I hope the device is capable of creating tasty coffee for you, and it is easy to operate and maintain (cleaning the insides is a big part of the pleasure of owning such a thing, heh). Paraphernalia? not sure it is it, just a commodity... and indeed a must. 👍

I didn't hesitate to go to the store to buy it.... I did well because I took the last of the offer.

I couldn't help but share this purchase but I really wanted to talk about my mugs. They are 11 years old with me. They were the first mugs I bought when I moved out of my parents' house and I take care of them and keep them with love. Not only for coffee, I also like to serve tea in these mugs as they are the perfect size to be satisfied!

¡Absolutamente!

  • Aesthetics and versatility you can serve it anywhere.
  • Temperature preservation always a hot coffee to bring your soul back to your body.
  • Easy to clean and above all it does not stain as it usually happens with plastic jugs.

The passion for coffee never ends that's why I will always choose the glass carafe and a large cup.

Enjoy my photo from my home, with my favorite mug and cup.

A beautiful glass jug that does its job perfectly. A utensil that, due to its practicality, wins the affection of its owners.

I leave you a cup of coffee for this sunday.☕

Transparency in kitchenware is an added value. It allows you to control what happens in the processes. In coffee this is important. Although I prefer to make coffee in an Italian coffee maker, I must admit that I work a bit blindly there. I love your mug, it has vibrant and beautiful colors!

Your mug is beautiful, I love it! I imagine you can unwind from an overwhelming day if you sit down to enjoy a good coffee in this beautiful mug. Thanks for sharing and have a great week full of good coffee. ☕😊💜

This topic is very interesting. By photo I fall in love with all those little things that decorate or accompany your coffees when you share them here.

We are two in love with this theme and everything that helps us enjoy it. Greetings!

Hi @daimar07 !
Good to know that. I'm going to contact you by telegram. About the doubt you posted in the group a few days ago.

Hi, sweetie! I don't remember what my question was? But if you write to me it is always important to refresh your memory. Greetings!

There are objects that we are very fond of, we even attribute human characteristics to them because we spend so much time with them that they are faithful to us above all; one of those objects is my coffee pot that has been maintained with the passing of time and allows us to obtain the satisfaction of drinking coffee as we like it, not only strong but also quite fresh.
At home coffee is never left over, so there is always a reason to make coffee again: amencer, a visit, snack time, for a better digestion or because it is about to get dark.
