Name this coffee poem I wrote. Here's the full poem.

Hi, friends and coffee lovers! This is my first time posting and I want to share the creative energy I get from drinking coffee. Without further ado, here's the coffee-themed poem, which doesn’t have a title yet, but feel free to suggest in the comments below 😊

A coffee drop would venture
from the side of your lips
to the sliding slope of your mug,
composing itself before descending,
detecting a safe landing
on the morning oak.

A coffee drop would transform
from the reason you wake up
in the morning to a brown ring
on the table and you miss her
brown coffee bean eyes.

You miss her more than coffee
beans miss being planted.
You miss her more than your mugs
miss being washed.
You miss her in the afternoon tea,
and there are biscuit crumbs on the floor.

Poem explanation
This poem was inspired from spending my afternoon with my sister, who treated me for an early dinner at Kubo Sa Halamanan.

If you’re not familiar with this restaurant, they usually serve a free cup of kapeng barako or known as Liberica coffee, which is infamous for being strong and aromatic and homegrown from my hometown, Batangas.

A quick interesting fact about Liberica coffee: “It is the world’s rarest coffee specie, accounting for less than 2% of commercially grown coffee. It is named after Liberia in Western Africa, where it originated (Echo Store, 2022).”

There are reports that claim Spanish friars brought the beans and planted them in Lipa, Batangas.

Going back to the poem, I thought of a persona who felt nostalgic after seeing a coffee drop. The poem starts quite general until it introduces sentimentality in the second stanza. I find the connection of eyes to coffee beans endearing, so there’s that.

Finally, you just are so immersed in the nostalgia that even inanimate objects become personified. There’s no deeper meaning than these, but if you have a different insight, feel free to share your thoughts.

Thank you for reading 💜

Coffee always makes a moment, even if it's just a cup, coffee can be a story and a brilliant idea. have a nice day!

I liked the poem, but it made me laugh a little, especially the last part. I've made my attempts at writing poetry, I've never show them to anyone, they're too depressing, but reading poems always brings that feeling of leaving you thinking, at least in my case.

I don't know if I'm short on imagination right now but why not go with something simple and concise? Putting 'Missing' to the poem wouldn't be so bad.

Thank you for sharing your poem with us, with beautiful images, too.

Coffee is the drink that touches the lives of so many. I love coffee for all occasions and cannot imagine my days without it.
Thanks for sharing your experience with this beautiful poem:)
