Slow Sunday: Get a Free Americano and Palm Sugar Latte!

Usually I go out on a sunday morning to cycle around, but last sunday I overslept and woke up late haha so, I went to a cafe instead. This was my second time visiting this cafe, so I wasn’t sure what to order. But honestly, the night before, I’d looked at their instagram and I found out they were offering a morning promotion sort of.

So the promotion is called “Mapan” which is Teman Sarapan (translated to “breakfast friend” or something like that). It’s only valid if you order between 7-11 AM, which isn’t too early as a morning deal, is it? So basically, for every burger selection you buy, you get a free drink! The burger itself isn’t expensive, only IDR 22-27K or about $1,50. They offer several options like sweet black tea, americano, lychee yakult, and kopilapa aren.

Since I wasn’t in the mood for sweet drinks, I ended up choosing an aren latte and an americano. Aren is a sugar palm, so it alwys seemed like a safe choice haha. But the americano.. why did I even choose it lol. I love drinking coffee but I don’t understand coffee at all, even though I used to work at an FnB company and some of my co-workers were actually baristas.

I remember when I was younger, I ordered an espresso shot at a spicy noodle shop without even knowing what it meant🤣 it was on the coffee selection list but I don’t know what I thought at that time. Writing about it now still makes me feel like an idiot.

Now, back to the americano, this wasn't the first time I’d tried it because at my previous job, they’ve once held a coffee workshop, so I tried the americano for the first time made by my friend who was also a barista. But it was in a smallest cup, and I remember the taste was a bit strange for me who was used to drinking sweet instant coffee😂 I didn’t even know why I chose americano again this time, in a regular-sized cup, which was quite a lot. So obviously, I just took a sip and ended up taking it home haha

But luckily, I enjoyed my kopilapa aren because it wasn’t too sweet even though I didn’t ask for less sugar. I think kopilapa means kopi (coffee) and kelapa (coconut), but I’m not sure because I don’t think I tasted any coconut flavor. I ordered two portion of this promo because I wanted to stay until afternoon, so I thought it would be a good idea to save some money by taking advantage of this promo😁 For the burgers, I chose the beef burger and the cheese burger. The price difference was only IDR2.000, so I thought it would be worth trying both.
