"Love is in the air." "Sana all may ka-date." Those are lines we hear every time February comes. I can totally relate to that because I, too, have a love-hate relationship with Valentine's Day. But, let's be real, Valentine's Day isn't just for lovers, it's for everybody to have some fun-whether it be with friends, family, or just by yourself.
Hey, everyone, @lorene08 is back with another blog! On the 14th of February, 2025, our school organized and celebrated the day of Valentine's. Let me tell you how my day went.
We had classes in the morning, but we already anticipated that they would not be formal because most of our classmates were excused from attending class for club activities. The clubs were preoccupied setting up their booths, so the school felt even more lively. There was also a color-coding dress code event organized by our SSLG officers, and our advisers forwarded it to every section. But not everyone got the announcement, so some of them weren't aware. Being a "KJ", I, of course naturally didn't dress according to the dress code because I couldn't relate with any of the colors assigned. I dressed in a white shirt with a Nana Tour design (a show from Seventeen, hehe).
The first thing I did when I got to school was go to another section because my friends were there. And even at early morning, I already got a keychain gift from my friend (thank you, Shane!! 🤍). Then, I immediately returned to my classroom because I had prepared gifts for my friends. I needed to cut 18 photos, and I felt under pressure because I had to hide them from my friends. Knowing I wouldn't be done in time before the class began at 8 AM, I called upon my friend Airha to assist me. She was taken aback and burst out laughing when she saw what I was making.
(The gifts in question HAHAHAHAHA. I printed three various photos of myself lol. It was an unplanned decision because I just discovered the template on TikTok the night before Valentine's Day😭😭)
Since we didn't have proper classes for the two subjects in the afternoon, I thought to freshen up a bit. I had some makeup in my bag, so I did my makeup, and my friend, who is much better at makeup than I am, helped me. Another friend did my hair. It was like a mini-makeover with friends HAHAHAHA.
Now, let's talk about Valentine's Day in our school! The SSLG planned it alongside other school clubs–the Techno Club, Mathematics, Science, English, YES-O, and so many more. Thankfully our school principal gave it the go signal, so we had various booths set up. The event was supposed to start at 3 PM, but some booths were open a little bit earlier, so we decided to take a stroll around them.
One of the first booths we went to was the one run by the English and Dramatics Club. Their booths were: Borrowed Time, Love's Fair, Merchandise, and a photo booth. They were selling adorable crochet keychains, headbands, and crochet flower bouquets for about 30-35 pesos. Doodled self-portraits for 8 pesos if no colors and 10 pesos with color. They're so cute! There was also a thumbprint activity with a price of 10 pesos if done by two people and 15 for three(I'm not really sure about the exact pricing because I didn't try it myself😅). One of the most interesting things about this booth was the blind date activity. Some people ended up on blind dates with their crushes while others were pranks arranged by their friends; some even ended up with exes(I can't 😭😭). Other fun games were Break My Heart, wherein you had to throw marbles at jars hiding prizes, DIY Bowling, and the Tie-the-Knot Wall. It was really fun, especially since the bowling game was right in front of our classroom.
We checked out the Freedom Wall booth, created jointly by the LDNC, YES-O, Techno, and Choir Clubs. However, when we got there, the booth was still being set up, so we only saw the Freedom Wall first, but they had some arcade games that you could win school supplies from, a Message in a Bottle activity, and some merchandise-like keychains, accessories, and cards.
One of my favorites was the booth Mirror Shot 0.5 Photo Booth, a collaboration of the GSP and Math Club. There were two options for photo prints, a polaroid photo that costs you 15 pesos, while the other is three photo strips at 30 pesos (I don't what it's called😅). I actually did it twice, the first time was a free treat from a friend who was with her boyfriend; the second time, I treated my friend because I really loved that booth.
The marriage booth was another likeable segment of the event. I did not participate in this one, but since it was in an open area near our classroom, I saw plenty of couples being "married." Some were exes 😭😭. Others were fooled by their friends to marry random strangers. The best part was that two of my friends actually planned to "get married" there, and they even showed us their wedding video. I laughed so hard because they looked so cute in the video (they even flexed their marriage certificate lol 😭).
The Pinta Club had a photo booth and face painting services. My friends and I wanted to give it a try, but the lines were super long, and the area was crowded.
We went to the Science Club's booth, which had love souvenirs and games booth. My friends and I wanted to buy K-pop stickers, but they were all sold out.
I didn't get to check the jail booth and the videoke booth, but I heard from my friends that one of them got set up with her former crush from elementary in the jail booth. We all laughed so hard when we heard the story HAHAHAHA.

Before I wrap up, let me share with you one thing that really made my Valentine's Day even sweeter. I cracked a joke about wanting to get a bouquet, and I was not expecting my friends to actually go ahead with it! They planned overnight and made me a DIY bouquet, and here's the best part—it had the face of Rabin Angeles (Yuri from the Wattpad adaptation Mutya ng Section E)! The moment they surprised me in class, I literally screamed and started jumping around. My smile was so wide lol 😭🫶🏻. Thank you, Airha and Kresha!! 🤍
And that is how I spent Valentine's Day! I hope you enjoyed reading this blog, and I hope you had a great time this Valentine's Day with your special someone, friends, or family.
