We got the news last week. With Covid cases increasing in Ontario, we're officially back in lockdown. At least I have things like this beautiful orchid to distract me.
The last of our snow left 14 days ago and yesterday the temperature reached 25 C (77°F) -- shorts weather! I decided to start getting the deck ready. That means sweeping off the autumn leaves, pruning the vines, bringing out the patio furniture and cleaning it up a bit. This photo is from today. Just one more of those painfully heavy cast iron chairs to carry out, then a little spray painting and I'll be repairing/painting the deck this year.
I took advantage of the warm weather to give the weeping fig a bath. Since I was away last year, it didn't get one and it was both dusty and sticky. It dried off quickly in the warm sun.
Part of putting out the patio furniture is gluing the plastic feet back in if any fall out.
I don't know how I manage to get glue on my hands every time but fingernail polish remover got it off.
We're told not to clean up our leaf waste until we have 10 days of 10 C (50°F) day temperatures to give the dormant insects a chance to escape. So amongst the leaves and periwinkle vines, those are my chives.
Daylilies.
Bearded iris.
Squirrel flowers, i.e. tulips planted by squirrels.
The Lungwort is flowering. It's always the first to bloom.
The hyacinth is progressing.
The scilla was second to bloom.
I see narcissus buds!
I had a chipmunk living next door for a few years and I had named her Munk. While I was gone last year, someone dug around the bush where she lived. I don't know whether she left or was evicted but a chipmunk appeared yesterday to dig around behind the bush. She stopped to stare at me. Is it her? She found the peanuts.
And for all my work, I get to keep the loonie ($1 coin) I found.
Happy Sunday everyone!

Welcome back!
Beautiful orchid.
You have isolation again, but with us it did not stop ...
Patience for all of us, we need to do our hobby, flowers :-)
I'm sorry to hear you are in lockdown too.
Thanks for the support!
Sorry to hear that you are back in lockdown. At least you can go outside and do yardwork, that's been my major pandemic activity
Thanks. It's not a big deal for me but I'm doing a few things for entertainment that I haven't done in ages.
