Previously I shared some pictures from the Topkapi palace which showcased their dressing and state rooms. The Palace is huge and they had a good collection maintained from the olden times. The best part of this Palace is their Treasury. It is named as the Imperial treasury. There are all the precious collections passed down from one generation to another and now all part of Government property. I was telling my hubby that even if they would let go half of their treasury they would be able to clear all their debts and will be on a much stronger foot economically. But of course I am not a economist so I do not understand these things well, and I am sure it is not all that easy. But to think of it, they have so much of tourism and all of this, then why such high inflation.

Anyways getting back to the treasury, I have never seen such a collection in any museum till date. There are precious jewels in abundance and things made of gold, which must be billions of dollars. Going through this section, I felt even India at some point of time was like this, rich in gold and jewels, if it had not to be looted all by the British rulers. Most of the Indian jewels now are in British museum, which is sad.

Going through this place, one can only imagine the extravagant life of the Royals. Nowadays the Royal family do not do so much display of their wealth and that's for obvious reasons, especially the Jewelry part, but in these olden times they displayed their wealth in every possible manner they could and so everything they used was made of Jewels and Gold. Even the book covers were adorned in Gold and Jewels.

I feel Emerald was one of their favorite gem stone, because I could see lot of it in their treasure. Also Emerald is a crystal which is known for fortune and good luck so I am sure that must be one of the main reasons to have it.

Those are all the gold coin collection. This is just a small glimpse of it.

That's a waist band, the stone on it is not emerald. It is Chrysolite, they used a lot of green color crystals. This is also a crystal of power and also good for physical health.

Broaches of Diamond, simply amazing.

It keeps going on and on

This one is the best in the whole collection and I also believe it's the most expensive one. This pear shaped Diamond is 86 Carats, and it's been bordered by smaller diamonds which are also not very small. It's a master piece and the cost I am sure must be over the roof.

All of these are real diamonds. That's why I said that with so much of treasure, probably they could clear all their debts. I do know that's not possible :-), but my middle class mentality makes me think like that...hehe

Waist bands were very common in those days both for men and women and hence I could see variety of them here.

Then there are some other day to day things of use made all in gold and studded with jewels.

I found this bowl very exquisite.
