Flying to Paradise
14 May 2024

Earlier this year, we had the joy of taking a small family holiday down in Durban, Kwazulu-Natal. Since the husband and I were meeting the rest of the family there, flying was not only the easiest option but also the most cost-effective. And let me tell you, I was so excited as I just adore flying! There is something so surreal about gazing down from above, watching the cotton candy clouds drift beneath you and the world shrink into a miniature marvel.

The flight itself was obviously a big highlight for the first day of traveling. As we ascended, I watched the fluffy clouds create a dreamy backdrop in the sky, each cloud having its own unique personality, design and texture. We also had the pleasure of seeing the expansive mountain ranges of our beautiful country from above, peaks and valleys seeming so much smaller from this angle than when you are standing next to them.

Along with the mountains were the winding roads etched across the landscape. It was like looking at a living map. These views are nothing short of breathtaking and no matter how many times I have the pleasure of seeing them, the views never get old.

Our pilot landed so smoothly, there was barely a bump as we touched the ground in Durban, the excitement of the holiday now setting in as we departed from the plane, feeling the warm, humid, salty-sea air hit us as we stepped off.

Upon arriving at the hotel, we were treated with more spectacular views. We had a window from our bedroom showing off the sea in a mesmerising panoramic view. Overall, the first day of our trip was perfect and I was eager to wake up to the sea every morning for the next week!
