PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape Photography #49 : A Pueblo Blanco

in PhotoFeed6 months ago (edited)

This is a small Andalucian town in Spain. The whitewashed Pueblo Blancos are most charming. This town is called Setenil de las Bodegas. It's not like the other towns that are usually built on top of hills. This town is different. It's built on the bottom of a ravine, cut out by a river. The houses in the center are located on the bottom and built into the cliffs. Quite unique. I don't know if there are any other towns that are similar to Setenil. First photo is my entry to @photofeed contest https://ecency.com/hive-153349/@photofeed/photofeed-contest-cityscape-photography-round-49

Besides the first photo I want to add a few other photos of the houses built into the rocks. We actually parked the car on the top and then walked on a winding road down into the center of town. The road was steep and narrow. We didn't want to get any problems downtown. We also noticed that the all the streets were one-way. I think it was wise to park the car outside town. As you can see on a couple of the photos the rocks loos as if they are pressing on the houses, but as I understood, it is the houses that has been built underneath the cliffs. It was raining most of the time we were here, but as we could walk underneath the rocks most of time, we didn't get wet!

Oh my!!! this is impressive cityscapes. The name 'Setenil de las Bodegas' sounds amazing, I cant but fall in love it, simple as that. !DHEDGE and !PIZZA for you...

Hehe...it definitly is an amazing place! I have never seen anything like it!

So beautiful and stunning. But the establishments below the cliff is quite scary.

Hehe...agree, but I was here on a rainy day...quite comfortable way of not getting wet 🙂

Wow how amazing that the town is built like that and under the rocks too!

It just looks absolutely fantastical and so unique, but I think I'd be worried about an earthquake and the rock on top falling down...

Thanks for sharing as you have certainly piqued my interest and now I'm going to do some more research on it.

It definitly is a unique town. It's located a stort drive from Ronda, which is well known. I don't think this is an area that experience earthquakes....

Yeah haaaa lolll... so after reading your post, I became so obsessed with learning more about it, the current occupants and the historic inhabitants and then fell own a rabbit hole and got so distracted I forgot to keep on Hiving.... and then 2 hours later....🤣

Hehe...I am glad this place made you currious..and I hope you do visit one day. It's amazing 😍

Oh yeah me too!
