PhotoFeed Contest - Macro Photography - Precticus

I have never thought that this little flying insect is actually a species from the solder fly family, because the shape and the body is a little bit different from the soldier fly that I usually find.

This is maybe the Ptecticus trivittatus. Ptecticus is a genus of flies in the family Stratiomyidae (soldier flies). The ground color of the body may be yellow, brown or black, and the abdomen often shows a degree of transverse stripes.

It is interesting that its head and its eyes resemble a dragonfly, and that is one of the reasons I thought that this little guy is not from the soldier fly family.

I will use the first photo below as my entry for this week photofeed macro contest.

But yeah I was wrong, because this one is a kind of a soldier fly, with an orange body, a little bit long with a very small abdomen, a thin and long one. Somehow it is also mimicking a parasitic wasp.

it is such a beautiful insect and I was a little bit surprised to find that this guy wan to stay still for quite a long time so that I could have sometime to photograph this guy in so many angle and then share it with you all.
