What's good Hive!

One of the tourist spots I was able to visit on the North side of Luzon is this almost enchanted rock formation in Burgos, Ilocos Norte.

Kapurpurawan Rock Formations

The term "Kapurpurawan" is a local dialect which means "whitest". the place is such a scenic area where the rocks seem to be artistically formed by Mother nature it self.

The tour started by stopping our van on the top of the cliff, As we go down, we could see all the Windmills towering all over the place, and on the side of the mountain near the stairs there are souvenir shops and small canteen, where they offer there local delicacy Ilocos empanada.

I went here early February and it was so cold and windy and from the mountain top you can see strong waves crashing on the shore below.

As you reach the bottom there are mini huts below, some are houses of the local and some are souvinier shops, Somehow it resembles house of hobbits and as you face the ocean, you will hear, feel the strong gush of wind and see a very strong current.

Local actually offers a horse ride going to the other side, but I prefer to just walk going to the rock formations.

This is where the road starts from the hut areas, walking around felt like I'm on a medieval quest, it gave the feel of that from Lord of the rings. there was this hug marshy spot where I think it gets filled with water during high tide.

There are a lot of pockets of pool on the road going to the white limestone rock formation and it was truly windy as you can see from the water.

The rock below seems like roots of a tree, and it was a natural formation from the strong wind and splash of the waves, no one wonder they put up the windmills in this area.

When I was here, I was thinking to my self, how long have all this took to be formed beautifully like this. The harshness of the Sea on this side of the mountains seem to created an awesome masterpiece!

Rocks show a story of how land came into being, massive glacier sliding through the region way back in our history, rippling the rocks into formations now redesigned by wind and wave.

Awesome place to visit, take time enjoying the rock pools soaking in sea air.

it was definitely a scene! Seeing the strong waves coming to the shore, I could only imagine how the rocks formed over time. Hope you could visit and experience the Philippines too! 🙂

Nice destination when with local folks to take you to sights, for now enjoyed through the lens and your handy descriptive writing.

Beautiful spot you found! The scenery and those rock formations are breathtaking. I agree with you on some of them looking like roots of a tree. It seemed like it was engraved on the rocks. Those small pool is inviting too. I would probably go for a dip if I ever found myself in one.

Thanks! it really was an awesome experience! the only thing was, I went there in early February and it was too cold for me.
