Traditional library still very important in our society

Traditional library is very essential to our society that we don't need to do away with it. I know that so many people will wish that we don't have any more. But I myself still love to have it around.

Even before now an African man will die holding the solution to his problem in the book with him, but he will never read it. We are used to it already. But I know that there are so many countries that cherish reading so much that you can't hide anything from them in writing form. But it is said that when you want to hide anything from Africans, just put it in writing. Hmmmm! This is the reality.

This post is like an appeal for us to still maintain our traditional library because it is too good to be thrown away. Using myself when I was in school, I know how I use to visit the library with my friends. This is what happened eight years ago. Even though we still google some things online, but it did not stop us from visiting the library often to read and get ready for exams and maybe text or assignments. But looking at the students that we have today and how the regard the library. I don't really know what will become of the next generation of students. It gives me concern when I see it.

I know that we have alot of advantages when we just use our phones to Google out answers and just go ahead to submit to whosoever that may need it. We should also consider the havoc that it has done to our students and still doing till today.
No students wants to make research any more. They all want to go online get information and without enough time to process, they go on to submit. What happened to when we read from our books in library, understand it for ourselves first and then copy to submit? Won't it be better that way. At least that student will have learnt something from that exercise. But when we just google it and submit, it doesn't stick to our brain. That process of copying from one book to another is very helpful. I had this lecturer while in school who never gave us any text. He can give us assignments up to three times just to cover up for the text that he won't give. One day we asked him his reasons for not given us any text. His response was that he wants us to learn and not just to submit and get marks for our grade. He said that most times when you set time for text, most students will just come in with their phones, google the answers and submit. But when he gives us take home assignments and insist that every should write it with his or hand. He knows that people will copy from each other, but at the time of copying one will still learn something. I learnt alot from what he said.

In conclusion, we need both because they all have what we will gain from them. We should not talk about discarding traditional library. We still need it.

This is my contribution of week 158: edition 2 - Who Needs Libraries?

For the fact that students want to get all they need online makes us not to need libraries anymore, libraries are slowly becoming a thing of the past .

Let both of them be there, we will still need them one day

Traditional libraries are very important in this age because not everyone has access to the internet as most of us do. They still exist.
