Alcohol Drinking- How I escaped being drunk πŸ˜ƒ

in Hive Learners β€’ 4 months ago

When I was in School, I had a room mate who enjoys going out to catch fun. I was a fresher, I thought I needed to remain focused. So I often rejected her invitation to join her. But on a particular night, one of her friends was celebrating her graduation with a few friends and she insisted that I went to the groove with her. So I accompanied her.

It turned out not to be a party but just a free drink galore in a bar. I felt safer because it was an open place. But the challenge became that no one would drink anything else other than alcohol. I wasn't used to it. It's going to be my first time apart from little sips I get from my brothers.

I demanded for malt but it wasn't available, I declined the alcohol but when I saw the look my room mate gave me, I had to collect it. Just one bottle of stout. Jeez, I never knew it was very bitter. Why do people waste money on alcohol I asked myself. I took a second sip though, and then a third. That was all. Everyone was having fun but I wasn't. Instead, I began to feel dizzy. Things and people in the bar appear to be turning round. I tried to stand up but I fell back into the chair. It was then I knew there was trouble.

I demanded for water. My knees were wobbling where I sat. I could feel the right knee hitting on the left without my permission. I shouted for water and my friend who was already going on the second bottle asked what I needed the water for. She warned that water would fill my stomach and she doesn't want to see me waste that alcohol. Without listening to her, I finished the bottle of water brought to me, believing it would calm, neutralize or even nullify the alcohol in me. πŸ˜ƒ

I sat there looking confused. The guys were arguing about football over their drinks, the ladies were gulping theirs with fried meat. I just sat there looking, seeing them all turning round πŸ˜ƒ. I was just praying for the water to work as I thought and that we shouldn't leave yet, else I may need help to walk home. πŸ˜ƒThank God, the wobbling knees were reducing, everything was returning to normal and finally I became well.

Then I pretended to sip another one but made sure nothing was swallowed. I did it again and again, nothing was swallowed. The drink didn't even touch my tongue. So I decided not to hold my bottle again on my hand, rather I dropped it on the table, not directly in front of me anywaysπŸ˜ƒ. Fortunately, the guy sitting next to me, who had drank many bottles but forgot if the last one had finished or not took my bottle and finished it. πŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆπŸ™ˆ

When we were ready to leave, they joined all the bottles and paid. My friend asked about my drink, I told her to check if anything was poured on the floor. When we got home, she only teased me for filling my stomach with water instead of going for a second and third bottle. She didn't know I didn't drink more than a quarter of my bottle.

ANOTHER ENCOUNTER WITH DRINK

I visited my elder Brother in Abuja and he took me to visit one of his friends. I don't know what gave my Brother that impression but he had bragged to his friend that I take alcohol. Does he call those little sip he gives me when he drinks palm wine with his friends alcohol? Well I didn't know he told his friend that already about me.

When we arrived, his friend was making rice and stew. So he immediately brought out cold beer, two bottles and asked us to be drinking before he comes. I said to my Brother "Bros, why can't your friend give me malt? why Star Lager Beer?". He replied " Don't disgrace me o. I told him you are a correct babe.Correct babes take alcohol". Jesus. Hahaha. Is he matchmaking me now or what? And if he is, have I not already lost the chance even without mincing words? The guy is handsome anyways and a medical Doctor πŸ˜ƒ. But I was more concerned about the embarrassment we might both get than being "a correct babe".

Just then, a thought came to me. I took a sip of the alcohol anyways. It was poured In a glass cup. I asked my Brother if I could help his friend in the kitchen while they both gist? So he said that's a good thing to do. So I took my glass cup of alcohol to the kitchen, pretending to be sipping it while I asked our host if I could help in the kitchen. He obliged. My Brother asked him to leave the cooking to me while they discussed in the living room. I was so happy.

As I sliced the vegetables, I would flush some of my drink through the sink. πŸ˜ƒ. A little time, I would come to the living room and pour more into my glass cup. My Brother was just hailing me. I told you my Sister is a correct babe , he kept saying and the Doctor too kept responding with Am impressed. Feel free if you need a second one That was how I flushed the whole bottle of drink down the drain and washed the sink with soap like a good girl cleaning after herself when cooking.πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ When the food was ready, we all ate and I left without shaking.. When we got home, my Brother congratulated me for not disappointing him but when I gave him the full gist of what I did, He couldn't forgive himself for assuming too much about me. He said I would have even given him the drink, I too was unhappy that a Doctor would test "a correct babe" with alcohol. I hope he is not married now to a drunkard πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ.

This is my response to @hive-learners task for week 129 edition 3.
