Hi there, ladies and gentlemen of hive. On today's edition of the hive learners contest, it is about what subject you would have love to teach if you were a teacher.

Well, I was once a teacher, even though I thought different subjects at my previous school because it was a growing school and they could not afford to employ a lot of teachers yet. So I taught the senior secondary section science; English language,Agricultural science subjects with Biology inclusive. It was not really easy though because I have to prepare lesson notes for different classes and different subjects.

I left after a while though because the pay was not worth the stress and fortunately for me, I had to relocate.

So while I was in thay school, I really enjoyed teaching Biology, maybe because it is more relatable. It is mostly about our environment and our body, snd these two things are a vital things in our world. I find relatable examples to liken the topics in the syllabus to, this in turn made it easily comprehensinle for the students

I also find it very exciting to talk about.

While I was in secondary too, Biology was my favourite subject. I do not struggle to understand the content of the topics of the syllabus.

I remember during my secondary school,we used an Essential Biology and I do go through the table of content of the text book. I see Digestive , respiratory, excretory systems, Osmoregulation and all those crucial body mechanisms. It made so curious about how the body carry out these functions, and what effects they have on the body.

Also, I was curious on how the body will react if something goes wrong with these mechanisms. I even study them before we even get to the topic in class. That is how interested I am in them.

That even made me pursue te study of medicine for my university degree but it did not work out.

During my National Youth Service Corp( NYSC), my place of primary assignment also known as PPA, was a secondary school where I also taught te students there Biology.

I was super excited when I was offered to teach biology, I was like "easy breezy". With little refreshing of memory with the topics, I was good to go.

I had the opportunity to prepare the students during my National Youth Service corp then for an inter school competition to test the student and the school of their academic excellence.

Since the competition was fast approaching with little time to prepare the student, I adopted a practical method of teaching to enable them grasp the information in a short period of time.

One of the examples I cited was during teaching of movement of fluids i.e. liquid and gas or particles in general. I used a scenario of spraying a deodorant in a room, the region at which the deodorant was sprayed is the region of higher concentration and towards the end of the room that which the fragrance will later reach but not immediately is the region of lower concentration.

Then with the explanation, I simply told them that, that is what diffusion means, which is movement of particles from region of higher concentration to region of lower concentration.

On a lighter note, I used a scenarios of someone farting as well to make it stick to their mind. If they cannot remember perfume, they will definitely remember the fart scenario.

This and so many examples I was able to make relatable to the student which I can attest to that they understood.

Thank you for reading.

The chemistry part is no problem tho, I am good in chemistry too just that I don't enjoy it for some reasons.
