I think one of the worst things that can happen to a person is for them to decide to structure their life according to a blueprint provided by some random fellow on the internet. They probably had it going good for them, but then, they started listening to someone who was saying something that presumably resonated with them, and thus, it made them change the trajectory of their lives.
I don’t think there is ever a time when blind fellowship ever pays. No matter what you think it is, or how well you think their intentions are. No matter what, everything you get from someone online should be followed with serious caution and research. Because you have no way of knowing for sure if they even follow the same thing they preach online.
Honestly, I don’t even know how some people become loyal followers of influencers and content creators to the point that they’re ready to forsake their families and everything they’ve known since they grew up. Somehow, having a large following is a sign of authority in a certain field, and as a result, nothing that such people ever say can be a lie. That’s why even when there are obvious truths showing that these guys don’t live the life they preach, they will always find ways to defend it. Because admitting otherwise would be admitting that their teacher was wrong. That will be like a personal blow to them.
On social media, there’s a popular feminist who’s known for her men-hating posts. Like, she doesn’t hide it at all. She’s proud of it and even wears it like a badge. If there were an award for hating men, she would most likely be top billing. But then, imagine my surprise when I found out that she was married to a man? Like, how can you be married to something you hate so much? And that’s not even all, all indications from her online portfolio show that she’s the breadwinner in the relationship. So, she’s the one funding her man’s lifestyle. Like, how does this make sense?
And on the other side, we have these toxic masculinity guys who only preach hate. They talk so much about high-value men and women in their prime and all that gibberish. With the kind of things they say, you’d think that they’d never ever be in a relationship with a woman. You’d think that they’d disown their sisters and block their mothers from their lives. But no! They’ll fall in love with women, get married to the same woman, while still spewing their hate online.
So then, to what end? I’ve heard many people come online talking about how listening to people like these has ruined their lives. A guy followed Andrew Tate’s teachings and destroyed what would have been a great relationship with his then-girlfriend. And not just that, he ruined his relationship with almost all the women in his life. Another woman ruined her marriage just because she was following something someone said on TikTok.
Real lives are being ruined here, but the preachers of these gospels are living large. And they don’t care about how it affects you. You don’t just do something simply because someone online told you to, that’s foolishness of the highest order. Because when you follow their advice and ruin your life and relationship, you’ll be left to pick up the pieces, meanwhile, they’ll be living happily with the wives and husbands that they encouraged you to dump, and Elon Musk and Mark Zuckaberg will keep giving them money through their monetized accounts!
