Lost my Love and my Job

I read a lot of nice entries on the hive learner prompt about love and business; some of those entries made me pity the authors because of their bad experience of mixing business with love.

While thinking of how I mixed business with love, the only story that came to mind was a short sad crush story that happened to me when I was still a teacher.

I met this girl who happened to be my sister's friend's younger sister, she was slim and beautiful, I admired her the first time I saw her but I had nothing in mind, I mean no thought of asking her out or anything, and I did not imagine we would be close.

After my first encounter with her and her sister, her sister told me she needed a job, and at that period, we needed teachers in the school I teach so I told her to write an application letter to my school and she got the job.

We got to know each other better and gradually the bond became stronger. Still, one thing happened, our bond had a disadvantage which was the lovey-dovey scene we were acting in the school which caught the eyes of our colleagues and even the proprietress.

I was an asset to the school because the proprietress was able to use me well, I was taking 2 classes basic 4 & 5, and also taking the whole primary classes in computer studies, and at the end of the month, I got paid 11, 000 naira while other teachers were taking one class but because they had a better certificate[Nd and Nce], they were getting 15k naira above, but I never complained and I did my work diligently and when the girl started working in my place of work, I was more happier and did not think much about the work.

It did not take long before the girl started having issue with the proprietress, because she was not ready to be used, the first issue arise when she said she was not going to do the afternoon lesson but the proprietress wanted to mandate it for her and there were more other issues, I do not know why they keep having issues upon issues, it got to a point that the proprietress wanted to sack her but I pleaded on her behalf.

The girl also told me she wanted to resign too and I pleaded with her not to leave as well, Why am I begging both party? I was already having feelings for the girl and I know if she get sacked or resigned, I am going to miss her and It would affect my work.

I tried my best to make her stay but It eventually happened, The boss sacked her and what I feared happened. I lost interest in the work because some places in the school reminded me of her and after two weeks, I end up quitting too because I could not cope with those memories alone!

This is one of the advantage of having feelings for someone at your work place, or dating people in your place of work because if things goes south, it will affect your performance at work.
