THE "THE FAN BLEW IT" MOMENT

Looking back I still smile when I remember some of the moments during my school days even though it is so many years ago. From the different interesting personalities of my classmates to the funny scenarios to the different teachers and so on. I'm sure when you look back you can remember at least one or two hilarious moments that made your classroom feel like a comedy show.

There is one that was quite hilarious that took place during our final year exams in the Secondary school/High school. Do you know how an exam setting is meant to be? All students in a serious mood trying not to forget all that has been studied and ensuring that they finish attempting all the questions before the time elapses. But as usual, there is always one student that would provide some comic relief for both the students and teachers(invigilators), even though it was not a planned one.

In the middle of our final exams when every student is writing and making conscious effort to beat the time, something occurred to the surprise of all. A student was caught red-handed by an invigilator as he was using an 'expo' to write his examination. The young lad had some important points and definitions scribbled in a small piece of paper which he hid somewhere in his shoes before the start of the exam as he confessed afterwards.

Just like every invigilator would do when a student is caught cheating, the culprit would be confronted to know the reason for the actions knowing the dire consequences that are applicable. Now, this is where there is a twist - a hilarious one. The boy tried to defend his actions by trying to prove his innocence and his defense was so funny that it had the whole class rolling on the floor. He said with a convincing voice,"The fan blew it."

I'm sure the question that would come to mind is "How can a fan blow a piece of paper with answers of the exact examination you're writing into your hands?" That's why the response was funny coupled with the remorseful and confident expression on his face. The examination hall that was filled with over thirty students couldn't hold their laughter including the invigilator. Though, he tried not to make his laughter too obvious so as to maintain his authority in the situation.

However, the invigilator took a lenient approach to address the situation. Instead of throwing the student out of the class and filing a report to higher authorities, he pitied him because it may affect his final year results if he was reported. So he gave him a stern warning to never repeat it. He also ordered him to stop writing for about twenty minutes, so that he'd have less time to complete his examination. It was a form of light punishment.

As most students in schools will do, we didn't waste any time to give the boy a nickname. It was from that moment that we started calling him 'The fan blew it". It is quite interesting how unexpected moments like this can turn into a .memory that lives with us for a lifetime and it still brings laughter to our faces when i remember that expression on his face as he said "The fan blew it".

The school environment may be mainly for educational and extracurricular activities, but it is also a place filled with different characters that create funny and unforgettable moments. We all have that funny experiences that we had that we remember once in a while, you may decide you share some with me in the comment section.
