SEO is an important component of any website's marketing strategy. As bloggers, we have the power to attract outside users to our blogs by making them SEO friendly. Sadly on Hive, there is no direct incentive for users to do so. That's okay because the content is king! If it's shit, no SEO trick can help you. 😂 But if you think your content is decent and you want to do something better with it, read on. Bringing more readers to Hive through your content is one of the most underrated adoption strategies. SEO can bring some serious eyeballs to Hive via content.
In this blog, I am listing down some basic tips on how to make your writing more SEO rich without putting in too much effort.
Do Your Keyword Research
Keywords are words people type into Google when looking for information about something specific like “how do I write an SEO powered blog?” So if we want our blogs to rank high on search engines like Google - we need a lot of people typing those same exact keywords into their browser bar so they can find us!
Before you start writing, it's important to do your keyword research. This is where you will find the best keywords for your blog in order to get more traffic and build an audience.
A good way of doing this is by using a free keyword tool like Moz Keyword Planne or Keyword Sufer Extension. These tools will tell you how many people are searching for certain keywords related to what your blog is about so that you can choose the right ones for your content.
How To Plug Keywords
In order for your blog to be SEO-friendly, you must use the keyword in every paragraph and possibly in the first sentence itself. Use the keyword in the first 150 words of the post
The first paragraph should be the best in the post. It is what your reader will see first. If you can't write a great first paragraph, then don't write anything at all.
Keep It Short & Sweet
Reader's experience is the most underrated SEO parameter. The best way to get someone’s attention is by keeping your blog posts short and sweet. If it’s too long, then no one will read past the first paragraph! Try writing 500-1000 words per post. If you need more than that, break it down into two or three separate pieces.
That way you can add target more keywords and their combinations in each paragraph. You can choose to publish these blogs on different days or weeks apart from each other instead of trying to cram everything into one big article like this one right here 😉
Title & Tags Optimization
The title is the first thing people see when they search for something on Google. Your blog post's title should be short, descriptive, and compelling enough to entice someone to click through. The meta description that google picks is always the first line of your paragraph. It gives you a chance to explain what the post is about in more detail and it may even show up as part of a search results snippet! Make sure both are related to the content of your article, if possible.
Use Your Keywords In The Alt Image Text
When writing your alt-image text, use the same keyword you used in the post.
It is important that you choose an appropriate keyword for each image on featured in your blog. This allows search engines to understand what users are looking for and produce relevant results when users search on Google or other search engines. You might get some cool views from google image search.
When you upload an image it will appear like this in markdown - ![Insert Alt Text Here](medialink)
Just replace "Insert Alt Text" with your keywords.
Link Related Bosts With Relevant Anchor Text
As a rule of thumb, you should always link to related posts with relevant anchor text. You can use the same anchor text for each link, but it’s best if you don't repeat it too many times. Your post has more value if there are several different types of links on it.
Make Your Content Readable
Use simple words. Digital writing is not about showing off your vocabulary or your ability to use complex language. You should keep it simple and easy for people to understand what you’re saying; this will help them read the blog post and find their way around it, which will make them more likely to visit again in the future.
Avoid using jargon, long words, and short words. If someone doesn't know what a word means (e.g., "jargon"), then they may get turned off reading any further. Similarly, if someone has difficulty understanding a particular sentence because of its length (e.g., "long words") then again they may stop reading completely - especially if there are lots of these sentences in one place! Finally, if there are too many short sentences without variation (especially towards the end) then this can also be off-putting as it makes everything seem rushed rather than well thought out or planned carefully beforehand like good writing should be!
It's Actually Easier Than You Think
Writing a SEO powered blog is easier than you think. You should consider researching their target market through social media posts, comment sections, and previous articles written by other authors who share the same passion for speaking about topics you like.
All you need is to know your audience and their interests, know your competition, know the keywords that they use to find similar content, and know what goals you want to achieve as a writer.

I have done a course on seo.but never thought to use it in hive.
Thanks for this informative article.
It pays to be simplistic. Blogs with heavy intellectual jargon are not always easy to read. I've learn something new after reading this post; Also putting the title name in the alt image text.

It's something that I have to work on and the most I have been doing is using the LeoGlossary somewhat in my posts. There just isn't that much time so I haven't been focusing on that aspect.

I don't do keyword research. I write whatever I feel like writing about at the moment. At times I do write long articles. Sometimes the content keeps growing once I start writing them. The other tips are already getting used by me. Thank you for the tips.
