THE LOSING GAME

Before I start saying that gambling/betting is wrong or not, I recall when I was a child, my friends and I would usually agree to give the fastest walker a certain about of money or someone who can jump a certain pool of water. Then, the idea was just for fun but little did we know that was betting. Betting and gambling becomes a problem when men starts becoming greedy and they want it all. For example, you know, there are some people that will never accept defeat just picture people like that betting and gambling, it will be a total disaster if they start losing.

When there is a set prize for something, that brings in competition and with time, it becomes unhealthy because some people are either success hungry or they just don’t like to fail and because of that, they don’t mind going the extra step to get what they want. In our world today, so many people now live their lives on gambling, hoping that one day when they get a huge sum of money from it they can quit it. They have invested so much money into trying to win a bet or a gamble but they have never been lucky enough.

Even as some will see that as a good reason to stop that act, others see it as something that hurts their ego and pride and would say no to quitting gambling and betting. Like I mentioned earlier, gambling and betting started off as a game among people who think they are better at guessing and over time, some others saw it as a business because it is in the nature of man not to just accept defeat like that. So, if you fail or win in a gambling or betting game, naturally you will want to give it a second try and that’s how it starts. So basically, that’s one of the mechanisms they use to get people to be interested in gambling or betting.

Well, the only part when I’d blame these companies that runs these businesses is that, they didn’t choose to exploit the good part of people but a part that can be of great danger to them. Yes, they make so much money and guess what? You might be thinking that you are gambling with just money and your properties, but these people that run these businesses are gambling with you, hehe. They are gambling with your ego and pride that you hold so dear and they make the actual money and give you peanuts.

They know that if you lose that first game or win, you will definitely be tempted to come for more. So either ways, they will still get a chance to exploit you. It’s sad that this is happening and if it’s possible, they should make it illegal so everyone involved in it can start looking for other things they can do and be successful. Because, most people who gamble today thinks that there is nothing for them out there except betting or gambling.

I support that it should be made illegal because if it is not so, more people will keep falling for the lie that they can be someone great through gambling. But then, it’s sad that people are always seeking for the easy way out of things. Little do they know that it is actually the hardest way. There is nothing anyone can tell a hard time gambler to change his or her ways, he or she will have to tell themselves to do so or else, you will just speak to the air. They have lost or gained so much for them to stop now, that’s what you hear them say and they just prefer to keep going.

My major problem of gambling is when people start gambling with their lives and even the lives of their families. This happens most times because of how greedy they have become, they easily forget that they might have started gambling or betting because they need to feed themselves and their family. Gambling, the more it is welcomed and accommodated by many, the more we see nothing wrong with it. Nowadays we even see top celebrities advertising it even though they don’t participate in the actual games and that will make so many people think it might actually be fine to do it.

Well, a word is enough for the wise, we know the truth, we just don’t want to listen. So, feel free to keep gambling or betting if you think it’s fine. And if you don’t participate in it, be very weary about it because once you start it, you won’t be as lucky as some others who were fortunate enough to know when to call it quits. Don’t even be surprised that one day you hear that Hopestylist is gambling, but that won’t make it a good thing.
