Growing up as a child I was very inquisitive, I always want to know everything and anything . I Could remember a day I asked my dad what profession he would loved to do if given an opportunity to choose again.

One would have thought he would go for what he already find joy doing which is Photography but to my utmost surprise, he said he would have loved to joined the army. It has always been his dream. I couldn't hide my surprise and shock.

In my little mind, I was like...what would have become of us by now if he had joined, would I even have existed in the first place because life might have taken him through other path as a result of his choice. Do not mind me if I sound selfish..lols

Everything began to make sense when I observed his physic, he looks more like a military man naturally.Maybe he has been preparing himself to become one. Yes lest I forget, he told me he tried but didn't make it to the list of those who were enlisted in his time.

I began to wonder, what could be the reason for this crave to join the army. Well there are different reasons why people join the army and most of these reasons are very selfish but then when you consider what an army face out there, you would agree with me that it's beyond the prestige that comes with it.

A soldier doesn't operate within like other paramilitary, they operate without. I can't count how many times I witness how the barrack very close to where I schooled back then went empty with just some handful of soldier left behind during peace keeping mission and some other mission to protect their territory.

Many of these people do not return and some return maimed and seriously injured all in the name of protecting their territory. I won't forget when one of these men went on one mission of such and narrowly escaped death.

He came back home to testify in our local church then, you need to see how grateful he was for his life that God spared in that mission. If not for God on his side, he would have lost his life defending his country.

By now you would agree with me that this amidst the diverse reason why people join the military is love for humanity, love for the country they choose to serve. There might be many bad eggs amidst these military men but I bet you there are so many who are there base on genuine love and passion for their country.

Denying yourselves of pleasures of all kind to be at the outskirts and places far beyond the borders of your country, leaving your family for months or even years in the name of service, taking an oath of life or death and many more are all proof of genuine passion and love for ones country.

If you ask me...

So if you ask which force I would love to join, it's definately the military and that because of the zeal, passion and love these people exhibit in carrying out their duty. They are unique and are unlike every other force out there.

The change I would love to effect.

If am given opportunity make some changes, I would take my time to correct some of the wrong notions that military men run with. They somehow believe that every other citizen is a second class and you can see this in the way they treat civilians out there like a nobody.

People try to justify this act sometimes by saying the reason why they treat people like that is due to the training and rigour they have gone through while learning the ropes of that job.
In my opinion, I think this is wrong and should not be encouraged.
This will be my area of concentration when given a chance.

I will love to wrap it up here.I hope you enjoyed the ride up to this point. Thanks for staying with me.

There is no reason to mistreat people, all that is just a testament of who some of them are. That is all.

Thank you for sharing this with us.
